I wouldn't call that one since it's not really a MegaDrive port. Tectoy just ported the cellphone version to a "megadrive emulation thing" they still manufacture.

What is it with TecToy and the Genesis/Mega Drive?

They did. Tectoy was an awesome company in the 90's, but by the time the Dreamcast was released they were a total crap.

Anyway, according to their website, the MegaDrive line is finally over. They are selling rebranded portable MDPlay and a couple of crap MasterSystem boxes: http://www.tectoy.com.br/categoria.aspx?id=7

And to think we have high taxes to protect "brazilian products" against foreign competitors. Ridiculous, just give up Tectoy.

 

I finally found an NTSC U/C version on eBay. I'm pretty sure it's a Mexican copy (do Mexican games come as NTSC U/C?), I'll try and get it at the end of the week, when I have some cash.

Maybe I'll compare the PS2/360/XB1 versions, if/when I get the latter two.

 

Yes. Official games are NTSC U/C.

It let Sony avoid TV compatibility issues, but often Spanish in game was PAL only.
