Yeah, that was a mean joke on my part. I actually think you're quite unstable since you love to fly off the handle. Apologies, sir, since you seem to think I was sincere.

I know you're not home free because you get a pension. My point is that you're paying the taxes that you owe with money that is essentially given to you.

However, I've said my piece and if I continue to stay in this thread then I'm sure someone will wind up angry (probably not me). Continue your discussion, gentleman.

unstable ?... you mean my temper , well I curse whether I am angry or not. hmmm well at least you have said your piece. And peace be with you, there is just no Mr. Nice guy from me any more. Whether you earn your money or not, then everybody needs to pay taxes. And that is with me included. Even though it looks like the state is feeding on its own tale with my pension.
Taemos, I could call you a fucking cunt whether I was angry or not. But I don´t think you are a cunt. On the contrary , I think you are cool. But I believe every body , not only me can have their unstable moments. When Paulo had his cancer he was extremely unstable. And that sucked a lot, and that is the main reason, why I avoid him like the non bubonic plauage today. Because I saw his extremely bad side, and I felt his wrath when he fought the cancer, and tried to be a moderator at the same time. Which he failed misarablely at. But I do agree, at times I can be unstable, but no more than anyone else.

I know it happens, but how often out of the millions of people in hospitals everyday do you think this happens?

I was about to say, the witnesses in the article seemed shocked, so I take it that it doesn't happen 24/7 down there...

Mama Mama where does pension money come from??

Well you see little Timmy, The Government collects taxes from working individuals and then transfers it in form of a check to those who are of retirement age.

You see my dear WDK. Your pension money is merely heavy taxation forced upon your fellow citizens and redistributed into your pocket. So saying that you pay your taxes "just like everyone else" is not quite correct. And thinking that you pay into the system just like everyone else around you is profoundly flawed.

I am sorry to hear of your situation and I know that being sick frequently is a serious matter. But I fail to see why a socialised system is the ONLY answer. It is what is used in your country and it is what you are familiar with. However, there are alternatives of which it may benefit us to explore before we plunge head first into a system that is nigh unto impossible to revert once it is implemented.

On a related note. Would your healthcare system pay for a sex change operation if I were found to be of sound mind and incorrect body?

    Just a curiosity.

ServiceGames: honestly ? I really don´t know what to say (about the pension stuff, since I don´t have any answer to that and I think I have answered everything I can, but perhaps it will make your eyes open that I tell you, I do pay taxes since there are taxes on what I buy ) . And I still pay my normal taxes, it is just very hard to explain everything and I don´t think I can .

But if a sound mind, means you are okidoki upstairs, but you are transgendered, then yes I can´t see a problem with you getting an SRS if you felt your gender dysphoria was too severe, then sure. And the tax payers would pay it, heck I know two people in Denmark where one of them is a post op , and I know one who has just gotten the green light , but there are some stuff, that needs to be cleared beforehand.

Everyone that doesn't steal pays consumption tax. I don't think that quite qualifies for the old saying, "I'm a tax-paying citizen".

I think the question that'll answer it is: Do you pay an "income" tax on your disability money, or is that money free and clear?

Well on the papers, I get. There it says that the tax has been taken before I get the money. So let us call I have an income tax, since it is confusing to explain otherwise.

I guess that's the real crux of the issue: whether or not you feel obliged to contribute towards a system that works to provide for everyone, or whether you just want your money. I suspect if you were in a position of dire need your position in this matter might change.

I would have no problem the Gov taking 5% or 10% of my pay to ensure health care for the US. Think about it, it may not be you, but a loved one that is without a job and needs help. I'm fortunate to have a job with health care, but in the event I don't have a job, I don't want to be screwed cause the Gov says "hey, you want it, you pay for it". Sorry, but the US needs to help its citizens. I don't care if your Republican/Democrat, no one wants to die of an illness nor would you want to be the cause of someone's death because you refused to help out just a little bit.

Why are people not saying they would help to ensure health care for every US citizen?

    Jeff.

Because taxation is theft. Or some other nonsense like that, I really can't understand it myself.

I mean, someone earlier in this thread was asking why rich people should get taxed more. Uh... because they earn more? Works for me.

Again it all boils down to egotism vs. humanism. I am humanist, that is why I will try to help my fellow citizens. But then again, I am not a rubbish humanist, aka a naive humanist. Who believes in every body and everything. And I don´t help people because I want any thanks for it. I do it, because I feel it is the right thing to do.

It can work, but not everything is perfect. There are doctors who inflate medical bills, people who scam insurance, and doctors are demanding a larger salary nowadays. The government just has to figure out a way to pay for it and we can't. Every plan they come up with only focuses on a certain group albeit the very rich or very poor.

Something very similar to this is around right now that gives people money based on something the government took out from your paycheck... social security. However, the government, mainly congress, has been taking that money and spending it and putting back in there an IOU per say. So far, if they continue the rate they are at replenishing that fund, you and I will not have any social security because there won't be enough to go around.

Just make sure you vote for those you believe will help in turning things around.

I don't want to give the government a penny more than what is absolutely necessary. Simple reason being is that when it comes to financial responsibility the government ranks up there with people who win the lottery only to later end up back in the trailer park. Somehow I don't think adding yet another bloated government agency (that once started can't be stopped) is going to help.
