So because I'm stupid enough to spend that much money on it I deserve to be able to hoard it away forevermore and screw anyone else who might have more rewarding uses for it because they're poor. Nice that I'm beginning to understand the common mindset here "poor people don't deserve what they DO have." Yeah that's known as the "selfish-bastard gland". I personally prefer openness and freedom.
Is that so hard to understand? You buy a ferrari so you can drive it. Not so u can lend it out to every sucker on the street. Dont you feel bad when your on a night out or eating in a restaurant? I say stop buying dvds and donate your money to charity. You shouldnt spend that money that could have rewarding uses to people in the streets in the uk in this coming winter.
this is fun. if you think so, don't ask those stupid people to share this things. and what are the "more rewarding uses"?
I live in a shitty little council estate and earn not much more than minimum wage - I spent 2 years on the dole too, I'm the definition of poor, it's because I have made sacrifices I have what I have. You joined too recently to see but I dumped Deuce a few months back for forum members - it was an unreleased Playstation game and I had an original copy. Now I will struggle to make my money back selling the original because most people will be playing it for $0 so why should they buy it? It's not about hoarding and screwing over the little guy, it's about protecting your investment. Picture the scene - you don't have much money and what you do scrape up you spend on a prototype just to give it away? You may as well just walk up to random people in the street and give them your earnings. Don't dump = retains original value - like bonds, stocks or whatever. When you need to sell you can get your money back and the new owner gets to enjoy it before they pass it on for their money back, and so on. Kind of like Blockbuster rentals but takes a lot longer than a few nights to change hands and you get a refund on your rental!! Dumping the game is like shitting on the Blockbuster DVD - you ain't getting your money back!!
That's pretty much it. Edit: Except for the "rewarding uses" part, as karsten pointed out. Isn't everyone out to play the thing?
Paulo: You see there's the difference, what if you could clone your farrari for everyone on the street? You don't lose anything, except the farrari becomes more common. Though your original farrari still has some legend and has actually been in the farrari factory and been touched by farrari developers EDIT: Ahh so many replies Well I try and back up my arguements thoughtfully, but if you classify me opposing your views as noobism, then good riddance.
Magic 3000 pounds out of the air is called a job, you gan get one at parcelforce with nice benefits you know. Ah, what a fun topic. I'm going to sticky this one.
ehy this not fair! why stickying this one!!! (at least stycky it with a red title with written "WARNING" in it ) and yes a job is the answer.
Good move. Its a touchy subject that often comes up, and it seems like a good idea to keep it contained in one thread rather than spread across various "For Sale" Threads.
Qjimbo are you HIGH? Hell no. I aint gonna work my ass off to look like a bald chump on a car that im too old for just to go and share it with everyother sucker. The only reason i would be driving a ferrari down london is so that all those suckers can look at me and go "umm hes rich and cool i want that car." Who in their right mind would pick working their ass off to buy a ferrai for £120000 when i was giving them away free?
Haha thank you Assembler, I wonder if anyone who thinks like me will notice the topic One more thing: As I said at the start, it's not just about playing it, it's about the knowledge people gain through understanding the process involved in creating the game and the games' history. As well as hacking the game to find unused objects etc. It's just stuff thats much cooler than just simply playing it or leaving it on a shelf in my opinion. If you could do it for free, it's simply selfish not to. For example I have a house, if I could clone it so homeless people on the street had shelter I'd do it, even if the house cost several hundred thousand. It's just generosity, thats all.
To me thats a simple human right that everyone should have. Only the select few should be looking like an old chump on a ferrari.
If you honestly want unreleased games simply to reverse-engineer them, then that would be rather pointless because there are hundreds of thousands of released games that you can do the same thing with (ignoring the fact that it's illegal to reverse engineer the code, if I remember correctly).
I completely agree now. I have decided to post biohazard 1.5 online. For free. Right here! Amen brotha
hehe maybe you missed the archive with all the development hardware and the ftp full of software development kits then You ain't gonna learn much more about how stuff works anywhere else than what is in the official docs and many people here have shared them, it's just the games we're clinging on to
My university runs a computer games course.... Its not like its some special club only a select few can join. You can always join the homebrew scene. That argument isnt going to get you anywhere.
Ok... take a look at this: This is Hidden Palace Zone, now from our final build of Sonic 2, what do we get? The pallete. Oh and the title card and level select icon. But give us this: And suddenly things get more interesting! This is from the Sonic 2 Beta I mentioned earlier that thanks to SHARING we have. Another zone, wood zone, doesn't even have a title card.
