Well, I was looking at buying it new, but the stock may be old... that's why I asked if there was something I could look at in the box.

My Xbox live status, as of 29/11/2013 (Playing online/Always Connected to the internet):

    This mod: 6 months

Using a Chinese Hacked HDD: 2 Years

    Using A Wasabi 360 Pro: 1 year 6 months

And still not banned! So I thinks it's safe to say this mod WON'T GET YOU BANNED.

Hardly, I had a flashed DVD drive for 2+ years before getting banned.

Still there's a difference between a flashed DVD drive (used for piracy) and a basic a storage mod like this. Microsoft hasn't show any inclination to ban for storage mods, ever.

I'd be mildly surprised if someone got banned for this. It doesn't enable any sort of access to run unsigned code or copied games.

Well aware of that, if you read back through the thread I also said I would find it unlikely you would get banned.

However, his reasoning for saying you wont get banned is complete nonsense, which is what was being pointed out.

Notice he has a wasabi listed too btw.

Also, doesnt mildly surprised imply the opposite of what you are saying (i.e. you wouldnt be very surprised if they banned...)

My DVD drive is stock, A flashed drive and an odde are different in terms of backups. A flashed drive has to read a burned disc using the modified fw, where as the odde is using a 1:1 image that the console can't tell the difference from.

And I doubt MS is going to make any more changes to the 360 now, as the ONE is now out. How long was it before the Original xbox reached it's end of life/last update, when the 360 launched?

    Well thats my understanding anyway.

Ode uses same iso as burned disks. It's little different.

yes, but with an ode, when MS scans the FW they'll be scanning the ODD'FW not the odde right? All the ODDE does is interrupt the data from the ODD with the iso but when the console is trying to read the FW the ODDE will pass through to the ODD too avoid being flagged..? but I could be wrong about how it exactly works..

I don't I've even heard of a console using an ODDE getting banned (IF the images are made and patched properly)?

    Nope. That requires JTAG/ RGH.

People get banned for using ODDEs all the time. In concept, they should have worked as you describe, but nothing is perfect, and especially with launching games, there are slight malfunctions in timing that can tip MS off.

We don't condone piracy, asking how to play downloaded games is against the rules here. We are not a warez forum, go elsewhere for that.

oops sorry about that I didn't mean to ask about how to download, I'm just asking if this will work, but since it's not gonna work then my question is answered. Another noob question, does this mod HDD only act as a memory or can this mod HDD also act like the HDD connected to the HDD drive?

Ok, It comes up in the system as memory unit (like the original 4GB one) BUT It acts as a hdd so you can install games ect to it, because if you think about it, why would MS sell a 4gb console that you cant install too..

It just comes up the same as usual but has a larger capacity, the little icon is of a HDD not a MU.

As for your question before, you cant copy any hdd content to another box because it's tied to the original XBL account

There is a simple way not to get banned online, have a stock console and original games for online play.

I don't intend to ever go online with my modded console so it doesn't matter.

I did this mod to a 250GB version back when this first posted; the port isn't there but the connection tabs were so I did the mod anyways hoping to get my 160GB external drive to work, it didn't recognize anything; that was due to that I was up to date kernel... So I just used it as an extra charging port until recently..!

When the update allowing drive expansion took place recently to allow TB drives as external memory to be used; I decided to plug in a USB hub from rock band wii and pluged in my 1TB drive I began using in full & low and behold the port works now..! It see the USB drive & allows the USB hub to work as well...
So not so much a wasted mod at all... I wonder if it transfers data at a faster rate than the front/rear ports...
Don't know but totally enjoying the 4-port hub & drive access now..!

    UPDATE!!!
I went out and tried to plug the drive directly up to the port and it will not power up or turn on; but with the rock band wii usb hub it works..!
Hope this might help someone in their endeavors...
