Easy now! You could very easily get two of these MEC's for that hubcap!

regarding the N64/U64 bit..it was just a name change. The hardware in the U64 units is identical to the first gen consoles spec-wise. Earlier hardware, of the same architecture, was found on the U64 boards for the SGI INDY.

SGI initially wanted to pitch the low-cost console to SEGA (but they went for the Saturn), so Nintendo took up the offer instead.

The use of Midway's Nintendo branding on the cabinets was a marketing move to cross-pollinate the Arcade-home demographic of their games.

I like how cynical this place is.
    It's actually pretty awesome.

Of course we're cynical. Anyone who knows anything about the Xbox can tell you it isn't a prototype from January 2000.

I think it is rather cool myself for a custom project. I'm mainly interested in that control panel on the top. Since this thing is a 1.0 board it has the 1024k TSOP. Perhaps the F buttons are for a 4 way BIOS selector on the TSOP? A 1024k chip can be split into 4 256k banks for a multiboot system. Probably not on this system since I don't see any wires going to the points on the board needed for a 4 way TSOP mod. Maybe they run under the board and PSU where they can't be seen in the picture and solder to alternate points on the bottom.

These are just fan (F1 = Fan 1 etc.) controls.. In theory it's probably just a voltage selector or PWM controller. Basicly you can do whatever you want.

    Ha!

Gotta love this place. One of the only websites where people laugh about fake development consoles.
None of my IRL friends understand this crap. They watch me laughing or getting excited over dev kits and don't understand why.
