USB GDrom Thread

So how many GD-ROM emulators are there currently, and which are available for purchase? I remember Dreamcasts running hotter with them installed. Was that ever a problem?

 

If you have a DC JAP you must deconnect freezonne with B button ( I thinks), but if you have another region you can do patch the gdi with gdmenu for example to free zone

 

When you say does not work, what is the issue you have? On my current setup (US NTSC console stock bios/UGC V5 + Lid switch added) I have to turn off "region free", add the ssf2x for matching service image for swap, boot code breaker.cdi, open the lid and close it so it recognizes the swap and then boot the game, as normal without issues.

If I boot ssf2x using the region free "on", the game boots fine, yet on the character select screen, it lags like shit and I'm unable to select a character in either Arcade or Training modes.

 

That's exactly my issue. I assumed the region free setting would give me compatibility. I didn't even consider using code breaker. I'll assume it works and take your word for it. If not I'll let everyone know. What's the likelihood of getting Bleemcast to boot in the future? I imagine they would have to be self booting cdi files to work. I've never played Bleemcast MGS, but really want to. Oh well at least I can still play the ps1 classic, or twin snakes version. I know some people hate the twin snakes version, never understood why.

 

It works every time using swap that I mentioned. You could try patching it like the other guy said, yet I prefer to use clean images and the swap method is not a big deal to do. Dunno about Bleem, as it's down to the dev to update the firmware for support.

 

I just got my Mnemo board yesterday. I tried to boot a GDI and encountered a red screen that says contact mnemo. CDI's run...kinda they have audio problems. Does anyone have any info? I contacted mnemo just no response yet.

 

Never seen that before. Any chance of a photo and what firmware are you running?

Firmware version correction I thought Ithat was 16/04/26 but that's the menu version lol. I uploaded anot her picture of my menu screen, I have not flashed any firmware yet I tried and it booted as a cd disc...

 

After placing an order, did MNEMO acknowledge receiving the payment or send a tracking number?

I received the paypal invoice from MNEMO and made the paypal payment, but have not heard anything since then.

 

Mine I´ve received the tracking number after 7 days. Did you contact Mnemo over email to check your order status?

 

I sent him an order 2 weeks ago with no response. I sent him a follow up and he simply replied that hes busy.....How long does he usually take to send an invoice?

 

In my case between order and invoice passed more than a month!

And you are lucky to got a reply. I never got a reply in this time and I sent more than 10 messages! But after invoice he answered all my question in no more than 48 hours.

I just received mine. Ordered on the 5th of July, Invoice sent on the 7th, Paid on the 10th, and received board on the 28th (to Canada).

 

i will definetly buy one. i have 2 questions what are the diference between the two v5 internal the one costs 167E amd the other 187. and about the account that it want, i have paypal

 

It seems to me Mnemo is charging more for the "in stock" items!

If you want now you pay more. Otherwise wait 4-6 weeks...

Just my opinion. You should ask him to be sure.

4-6 weeks is not bad, you save 20 dollars so imo its worth it

Well, I don't think for USB GDROM. All the partners he had left...

But you can have GDEMU (RHEA/Phoebe fame) and in future DCIO (from PSIO guys.)

I bought something from both and they are far better sellers.

 

I've been following the GDEMU page. I'm wanting to get a couple of things from him as well. Does he tend to get stuff in stock often?

 

My experience of buying Rhea and GDEMU were far worse than buying a USB GDROM.

USB GDROM. Placed an order when they opened on the site, got a response within a week, item arrived within a few days to UK. He replied to my message about updating the firmware within a few days and sent the new files I needed in an email. Always with a friendly manner. Granted his English might not be great which might account for his short emails. Item arrived in box.

Rhea and GDEMU. Placed my orders when they opened on the site. Heard back within a month. Items arrived within 3 months. GDEMU order details was lost, when found, my place in the queue had been put at the back rather than nearer the front where it should have been based on the time I placed the order when they opened. Emails were not responded to and blog post messages ignored. Items arrived in Jiffy bags.

Toro (For comparison). Ordered when they opened. Responded to my emails within 2 weeks. Order arrived within 3 months. Received an email apologising for delay. Item arrived in box.

In summery
Toro = Arrived within 3 months. Posted in box. Responded to all emails/messages.
USB-GDROM. Arrived within a week. Posted in box. Responded to all emails/messages.
Rhea and GDEMU. Arrived within 3 months. Posted in jiffy bags. Did not respond to any emails/messages.

As far as manner and politeness goes, based on GDEMU blog message replies to others and my direct experience of purchasing all devices, Deunan seems to have very little time or patience for people's questions, even after they have bought from him. He responds sarcastically and sometimes quite rudely to basic questions (He even acknowledges this in one of his blog posts). Behar Brothers and Mnemo were very polite in all communications, even though they are bound to get the same questions over and over again just like Deunan.

Moral of the story, don't believe the anecdotes of others or internet rumours.
