USB GDrom Thread

If you're using GDMenu, there's a menu to display the firmware version you're using. If you can't find that menu, it means that at least GDMenu is out of date.

 

GDEmu <> USB-GDRom, so what you read in this thread is not valid for you.

he humiliate deunan work in this comparison. and if i remember correct deunan himself recomend usbgdrom to some va0 user.

 

His comparison is childish, out of date, and a sign of bad faith. It's a good reason for me, and others, to never do business with him.

 

Is anyone willing to test an a special image i have made? it emerged from ongoing research into GDDA issues.
requirements:
gd rom emulator(usb-gdrom or gdemu)
at least one retail gdi image of matching region to your console. (USA for USA, PAL for PAL...)

 

I was talking about usb gdrom, the one from Mneno. Sorry for the confusion.

I still didn't had time to fire it up and check what fw it has. College is killing me.

 

I agree. I bought his 3DO mod first which worked impeccably, then the Dreamcast one which seemed fine enough (while he wanted to smear Deunan which is just plainly unnecessary. More choices for the consumer is better always) Now he's shitting the bed with the firmware updates. I wonder what is causing this to be difficult for him to resolve

 

Still waiting for IGR. Each firmware update brings a sigh of disappointment out of my fat, lazy arse. I guess D2 swap is needed to consider the product complete. Other than that, everything else is just bells and whistles.

 

I need some help troubleshooting why I can't get this thing to work.
So I got by usb-gdrom a long time ago when the usb port was made to be external. I just now got around to actually installing it and testing it out.
I followed all the instructions. Formatted to 64k sectors fat32, etc.
I updated to the latest firmware.
Then I tried putting Beats of Rage CDI on my usb stick. It won't load. It just gets stuck at the file explorer screen after hitting A.
I tried to load a GDI, and it will try to boot but then just go to the Dreamcast launcher cd player.
Not sure how to diagnose what is going wrong here.

 

Check there is no hidden partition on your drive. Use MiniAide. Partition as primary, no drive letter, 64kb.

If you can access the files on the USB, maybe it's a bad image. Try a trurip version.

 

OK just tried all of that. Got the trurip version of Bangai-O. Locks up at the blue file explorer screen when I hit the A button.
The only thing I didn't do was "no drive letter". Because I am not sure how I am supposed to copy files there with no drive letter.

 

Just meant the options in MiniAide when formatting because it's a removable drive.

Could be a very slow or bad usb stick.

 

Tried other USB sticks, no go.

I ended up fixing this by downloading the "special update.rar" file mnemo supplied.

 

Cool. When I needed the special update a message was displayed on screen. Probably only newer models display the text.

 

Good morning, I bought a usd gdrom from Mnemo and I'm waiting for me to be shipped. I have read sanctions on products from Russia (Crimea invasion), I wonder if it will be possible for me to receive the parcel? I live in Italy when I ship Mnemo declares it is a purchase? Does it specify the real value?

 

Hello. I am in UK and I received mine no problem, but this was over a year ago. It came through as a nice "gift".

 

The sanctions began on August 4, 2014, thank you for the information, I'm a bit quieter, I'll let you know
