UGC supports trimmed images, we'll all the images I have tried worked fine.

I may update the scripts & add one that just extracts & rebuilds to a truncated image in one script, making life easier for folk.

    I updated my batches.
(link is the same across all pages)
    Download Extract Re-Build GDI's v1.2.zip
    Code:
    [Updates 1.2]

    1) Added two new batches to truncate & pad images.

I think I got confused with the other way to shrink images, which is simply making them smaller than 120min but requiring a custom bios. The current method you're using is much better, although a faster alternative would be to remove the extra blank sectors directly from the images instead of extracting the files and rebuilding it.

It's not tough, but I also do have tools that make de-soldering easy. The points are pretty close together so it should be easy enough with just an iron.

He is aware of the issue, I've talked to him about it after the last firmware update.

The problem I'm having is that my PAL PSUs do not look anything like that.

I've followed 12v to this point.

I removed the whole part there and it looks good. +3.3 and +5v are both intact.

Heat sinks still get too hot to touch after 10 minutes though. Must not have been right,

Can someone get an actual temp reading of the heatsink on an unmodded dreamcast? Just the intro of some game playing over and over again via a real gdrom.

Did you also remove the resistor I believe it's R-301 in your photo? It Seems to be the equivalent resistor in the PAL PS. Although I'm not entirely sure.mwould like a second opinion. But that resistor plus the transistor remove all electricity from the 12V regulator. It's possible that with the resistor you still are heating up the components,

You need to get into contact MNEMO. There should be a file called GD_DEBUG.bin on your usb device. You'll need to send him this file. He'll send you a new GD_DEBUG.bin file you will put back on the usb drive. Once you do this you are golden.

By the way, I've talked with Mnemo about the trimmed size images and he replied that he will add support to that.

So, in the future this will be a neat feature.

I wonder why he originally removed support for it anyways.

So i removed the resistor as well. Not sure it helped. The heatsinks still get very hot but not as much as with the 12v connected.

So here are some picture pr0n for you.

    If you have this one:

You'll want to remove the parts in red.

It should look like this afterwards. I screwed it back and just lifted the resistor from one side (top left corner). This way I can easily restore the 12v if needed.

I remembered that I bought a pack of 100 small cheap heatsinks on Ebay a while back. Lets get some use out of them.

Oh and by the way. I just picked up a few more USB GDRoms from MNEMO today. They have firmware 15/07/28. No idea whats new in them and its not on his website yet. Must be a beta of some sort =) Still can't switch disks in D2 though.

Which GDI dumps are you using? Crazy Taxi from Trurip (DumpCast) - Sega Dreamcast GD-ROM - Games (US) [v2013-11-12] is crashing on the demo loop after 2 hours for me. (hangs on the SEGA logo screen)

I have removed the 12V from the PSU on my Japanese console (Identical to Turranius's) and it's done the same on my Us/ntsc console's PSU (Citrus3000psi) before and after the 12V was removed, so I'm thinking it maybe the GDI??

    I'm using Sega - Dreamcast [v2015-05-07]

Have not tried Crazy Taxi but the files inside Crazy Taxi (US).zip are from 1996-12-24 so I doubt its been updated.

This newest trick still eliminates the power draw above 12v, right? I might jump in yet!
