It's polarizing, because I do want one(for various games that are coming out here and there). But they've done everything they possibly could to piss off and alienate people like me. Also: Wtf is up with the double standards? Vita sells 600,000 in NA in 2 weeks 1.2 million worldwide: it's a success!, OMG IT's AMAZORS 3DS sells 460,00 in 4 days in NA, later becomes the fastest selling console ever in Japan by selling 5 million units in less than a year/sells 15 million worldwide in less than a year: OMG It's A FAILURE! I guess I must be weird if I don't get it.
Persona 4: The Golden, I'm guessing? I would say it's more of an enhanced port than a remake, but it looks promising. Unless you're talking about a different game, of course. I agree. I remember a time when I actually liked Sony and their consoles, but now I despise them and have absolutely zero trust in them as a consumer and as a gamer. Actually, it's not so much Sony that I despise; rather, it's the people who blindly defend their anti-consumer tactics and think they can do no wrong that I despise the most.
It's coming. I just think PSP emulation was a higher priority for sony then PS1. Hopefully it won't be to much longer till we get it. =D
I really like the Vita, but just like the PSP1000 I'm waiting for the improved model Mind is not a shitbrick like the 3DS is (with that one you HAVE to wait for the lite) but the jump from the PSP1000 to the 2000 was big, it was a much better console. I read somewhere brazil is limiting imports, is that true? I wouldnt be surprised, with those prices most stores must be going bankrupt
Sony is holding a video event on March 9th (yay my bday, present from sony). Hopefully we will get news on PS1 emulation there. http://andriasang.com/con05a/vita_heaven/
With the ammount of imported stuff i see being sold in game forums and mercado livre, i would say no. Thankfully
I picked one up earlier today, along with Uncharted, Rayman, Ultimate MvC, and Super Stardust Delta. It's pretty neat - I was suprised by how big it is. It's bigger than the original gameboy turned on its size, and certainly looks bigger than my PSP-1000. I have large hands, and after coming from the frustratingly small 3DS, the PSV is refreshing. The thumbstick placement is pretty much perfect, this is among the best thumbstick placement on any console or handheld I've ever felt. It makes me want to pick up more shooters for the thing just to use them more. The d-pad and buttons, however, feel awful - they're just like the 3DS, where they feel more like cell phone buttons than real controller buttons. But, given the dual thumbsticks, it's obvious the sorts of games the Vita will be suited for aren't going to be relying on these buttons very much, so it's not a huge deal. However, what is completely baffling is the number of PSP Downloadable titles that I can't play on my vita. This is extremely annoying, to the point where I feel like I've been duped - all the screenshots I've seen advertising PSP Backwards compatibility have been using Peace Walker as the example game. I have Peace Walker for the PSP as a downloadable, and I have Peace Walker as part of the PS3 HD compilation, but I was still looking forward to a run through the game on the via, if only because you can map the face buttons to the right stick. However, when I browse the PSN Store, metal gear solid peace walker isn't even listed, and under my purchase history, it claims that it can't be downloaded onto the vita. Someone mentioned to me that this might be because the HD Compilation is coming to the vita as well, and if that's the case then I'm pissed. I bought the game two fucking times already, and bullshit if I'm gonna buy it a third. Overall, I feel sorta like I felt after I bought my 3DS - longing for something to play that keeps me glued to the screen. The selection isn't nearly as bad as it was with the 3DS, and physically playing the unit isn't a chore like the 3DS was, but considering I've had my fill of uncharted on the PS3, I have UMvC3 on my Xbox 360, and I have Rayman Origins on my PS3, only Super Stardust has been keeping me occupied (And I have that game on my PS3 and PSP as well), I certainly feel a sense of "been there, done that." I want something new, unique and exciting, and it's in that sense that I'm let down. The vita has potential - it looks and feels sorta like a cross between a very small tablet and a traditional game console, but there's just nothing that makes me drool yet. A good action game would do wonders to reverse this feeling for me - I would LOVE a demon's soul game, for example. Similar to how the novelty of the 3D screen wore off incredibly quick on the 3DS, the "PS3-level graphics" didn't wow me like I expected them to. The graphics are great, don't get me wrong, but I guess I expected the smaller screen to make them really pop and shine and look something extra special. I guess booting up Uncharted and seeing jaggies immediately sort of killed any hype I had for the graphics right out of the box. A minor high note for the system is how incredible the web browser is. I have an android phone (epic 4g) along with an android tablet (Galaxy Tab 10.1) so the Vita's webbrowser isn't quite as revolutionary and awe inspiring as it would be had this been my first exposure to mobile browsing, but the large screen of the vita lets it fall somewhere between browsing the web on my phone, and browsing the web on my tablet. The browser itself is fantastic - quick, easy to use, and full featured. I can, at the bare minimum, see myself actually using this browser for time to time out of convenience. By contrast, I consider the web browser on the 3DS completely worthless due to the tiny screen and awful touchscreen keyboard. Bot the 3DS and PSV browsers demolish the old PS3 and PSP browsers, though, to the point where those things feel like pre-smart phone cellphone browsers. Perhaps I've simply outgrown handheld gaming. I don't dislike my Vita, and I suspect, in the long run, I'll enjoy it far more than my 3DS (just as I enjoyed my PSP more than my DS) but I'm left, I dunno, wanting more? Had this the option of connecting to a TV, like my PSP Go can, then I think I might be far, far more pumped up about this than I am, but for right now I'm simply apathetic. Unless you absolutely have to have every piece of hardware out there as it's released, as I do, then you can hold on off buying a vita until better games come out, IMO. Oh, also, $25 for 4 gb of memory is a goddamn ripoff. Especially since it's required. And I miss XMB quite a bit.
You can still play PSP games on the Vita that Sony has not yet enabled on PSN. All you need to do is download the title to your PSP and then use the Content Manager on the Vita to copy it over. I was able to get LittleBigPlanet and Pinball Heros on to my Vita this way: I'm enjoying my Vita so far. Though I think I went a tad overboard:

PS Vita Wifi $250

Uncharted $50

ModNation $30

Wipeout $30

Rayman $35

16GB Card $60

Case $15

Total (Pre-tax) $470

Would have been way more had Lumines and Hotshots not been free with the b2g1 deals. Fark, that is way to much money :dejection:
I think you mean PS3 instead of PSP. I went ahead and did that earlier, and I'm very pleased by how well MGSW plays on the vita. That second stick makes all the difference, and that oled screen is incredible for the game. I play with bilinear filtering on... so good. EDIT: Also, yeah, I walked out of EBGames with about $450 worth of stuff. I haven't dropped that much on a day console at once since I bought EVERYTHING for the dreamcast. Simultaneously feels awesome and bad at the same time - I can't help but think about my wallet, haha.
Just FYI to everyone in the US - Motorstorm RC will be free tomorrow. You can download the complete, entire game for free.
http://www.gamespot.com/news/metal-gear-solid-hd-collection-hits-ps-vita-this-summer-6365421 Hmm...now whatever did I say before? You like paying full price for ports of old games? How about ports of ports of old games? They're here, pooped out onto your Vita with minimal effort, but maximum profit!
A) I read somewhere that it was $39.99. Isn't that the full price for Vita games? Way too much for a port anyway. B) How exactly are they "enhanced"? Because they've run some stupid filter over them? Big deal.
The console version is $39.99 and includes MGS2, MGS3, and MGSPW. The Vita version only includes MGS2, and MGS3, and will not be the same price. They're enhanced because they run at a higher resolution, with better textures, and improved controls. I don't think you're familiar with the HD collection at all if you think they use a "stupid filter" -- are you familiar with ANY titles in the HD Remaster series?
Higher resolution = upscaling Better textures = some kind of smoothing filter Wow, yeah, that's really worth paying (almost) full price for. Also, "are you familiar with ANY titles in the HD Remaster series"? No offense, but who writes like that besides some kind of marketer? :biggrin-new:
There is a basic, fundamental difference between upscaling and running at a higher resolution. Upscaling is taking a picture rendered in a lower resolution, and blowing it up. This is upscaling, a game running at 720x480 blown up to 800 x 600: Running at a higher resolution means the game is actually rendered at a higher resolution to begin with. MGS HD Collection renderes at 1360x768, where the old game rendered at 640x480: That is not upscaling, that's running at a higher resolution. And the textures have been redrawn, they are not running using a blinear filter or whatever. I notice you don't even acknowledge the dropped price point or the improved controls. Why exactly are you complaining about a game you're ignorant of, which you don't intend on buying again? EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention they run at 3 times the framerate. MGS3 averaged 20 fps on the PS2, where on the Vita (and PS3 and 360) it runs a constant 60 fps without ever dipping.
