lets just say it wasnt the hit that nintendo was expecting, hence why they are now quiet about it like they were with virtual boy when it failed.

The GBA Micro is on the bottom shelf in my local Toys R Us. It's so low that tall people like myself can't even see it unless we really try to look.

I think the system was released too late and the price was too high.

edit: and you cannot play GB/GBC games.:-(

I think that in all sales-charts ive seen the micro was labelled as Gameboy (GBA + micro) or something like that. I think if it really sold well they would have showed seperate sales figures.

Also i dont really like the micro myself. Its an ergonomic disaster, and the screen is way too small to play rpg-like games that use a lot of text.

n-y-n the lack of older gameboy compatibility is one of the main reasons i didn't buy the system and I m after those "Second run" SPs with the brighter screen. But the Famicom edition of micro...*drooling*

Hmmm well why I didn´t even touch either Micro, or the DS is because Nintendo did a giant mistake, of dropping the backwards compatibility to the old Gameboy, and so forth. So if anyone asks me, then I say "Buy a DS if you want the future, buy a GBA SP, if you want the past". Or retro, or nostalgia etc.

The micro was never meant as a main product.
The micro was only meant for people who want something like this so i dont think it was a fiasco at all.

To an extent I must say yes. Other then initial sales the system has not sold well.

On top of that nintendo got greedy and at the same time suplied a redone SP with the same LCD used in the micro. Alot went for the new SP since a) it was clam shell, b) it was cheaper then the micro, c) a larger screen.

Ya really the Micro never made sense to me, but it was really cool being so small. But the thing is the GBASP was small enough and works wonderfully. Plus it plays my GB/GBC games and I have a Nintendo DS, so why do I need a 3rd system to play GBA games on? I definitely think it was sorta like a fan service/small group targetted by it. And the high cost was probably also to make sure Nintendo didn't lose money or made a profit off it.

Honestly at my local best buy they still have one 20th aniversary famicom edition left, but the $80 isnt worth it to me considering it doesnt play old gba games.

I kinda wish i didnt sell my regular gba but at the same time i already got rid of all my game boy and color games.

I really wish i never sold tetris dx, its pretty sought after these days.

I think the micro was nintendos way of extending the gba, however they didnt realize the ds became so big and with it backwars compatiblity with gba games there wasnt a need to buy a micro even for novelty.

And yes the price was one of the bigger factors

if i see a micro at a 40$ price point, it would make sense to buy one. Else, GBASP, used or not ;)

The micro's size makes it really good for linking to the gamecube. I use it all the time now instead of my sp.

Playing 4 swords & pacman vs on a micro screen is superb.

    I love my micro.

It's great for travel, the battery life is fantastic and if I ever want to play an old GB game I can always pull out the SP.

The micro wasn't designed for everyone, but if you're the type to find it useful it is a sweet little device.

Let's just say this...the Micro isn't even mentioned in Nintendo's latest propaganda Fall 2006 product booklet (that you can pick up for free at any games retailer). The DS and even the older GBA SP is featured in their hardware listing, but nowhere is the Micro mentioned.
    Consider it a dead product.

    Yay!

That means I might be able to get one for £20 eventually, I refuse to pay any more than that as it's just not worth it.

In the UK used ones are going pretty cheap

Keep thinking about it myself but then played with one for a while and IMHO they are onjly any good for single/double button games......anything where multi button combos are required either my hands are to big ot really the thing is just to small

The original NES remakes would be ideal as just 2 buttons required
