One of these is on display at Microsoft in the tour area. They also have on of the "Hammerhead" controllers. I have a picture, when I get home I'll post it.

Im sure they would have gotten a nice little sum from Microsoft to do so, but that would still have been torture.

If you cant see the right sign, here's what it says,

From early Prototypes (like the large chrome X you see here) to the final product in 2000, microsoft counted on input on more than 5,000 gamers and game creators from around the world to create the Xbox gaming console.

and thats one sweet controller

I had about 30 of those a few years back, no one wanted to buy them. I was selling them at $5 each. I wound up recycling them all.

Looking at the shell, it seems to have been welded. You can see the bead inside.

The front looks like it comes off too.

The controller seen there was actually released for PC as part of the Sidewinder line if I recall correctly. The buttons were also labeled ABC XYZ if I remember right. It's been close to 4 years since I took those pictures.

The Xbox V1 actually started to make a profit towards the end of it's life span. Personally I feel they killed off the Xbox too early in order to ensure that the 360 stole ahead and beat their rivals... net result being a year or so ahead, which was the making of their lead, but also probably contributed to their rubbish design & all the RROD problems they have endured since.

I believe you're right. I mean I don't have the best eye sight, but that sign was just to blurry for me to see all the words. There were a couple which you said that before I couldnt read but w/e I probably sound like an idiot asking somebody else to read somethign for me :banghead:

Im glad Microsoft changed the controller from what it was in the picture there. Having the left thumbstick above the right just feels more comfortable to me.

What?! Why wasn't I here a few years ago, that is bonified redonkulous. Nobody would by them for $5 each? I would buy for $5 bucks even if I didn't care about it. Thats pocket change compared to the amount of money I payed for other stuff on here.

lol no it's pretty hard to read. It doesn't help the picture isn't focused properly since I had to ninja the picture, no photography was allowed unfortunatly.

Redmond Washington. Microsoft Campus. I also got to tour MSNBC, and walk through HUGE server rooms. It took every ounce in me to hold back my mischievous side and not yank some cables. One kid asked if there is like a super computer that holds ALL THE INTERNET. While asking everyone was saying "no dude. NO. STOP ASKING. YOU'VE ASKED IN CLASS" and there was about 35 of us, from different schools. I have never seen so many simultaneous face palms in my life.

Wow man what grade were you in. I could only wish to have done a sort of tour like that we don't do much interesting stuff where I am. Then again Im kind of in Canada so that rules out most things. How could the kid think that though? Does he realize how big the computer would have to be haha. Or was he like in a lower grade or something
