from all my years of Saturn collecting I came across once or twice with this myth and yes this is myth as far as I can dig up...

maybe it is possible from technical point of view but haven't heard nor seen anything similar...

that name does ring a bell...
but if there really was one surely someone found it by now :smt023

atm mod chip is the only way to go - and now you can hack 21 pin mod chip to run om M1 Oval Saturn apparenlty

And it actually runs CDr? I find that hard to believe becuase as far as I am aware it's not possible to do it from the cart slot.

How is it possible to hack the 21PIN mod to work on 20PIN oval Saturn? Because getting a 21PIN saturn is pretty hard.

Can someone tell me what MCUs are contained on a Saturn mod board? Maybe it is possible to extract the contents of protected MCU?

I have successfully extracted PIC 12C508 (the one used in PSX mods) before, need to dissolve packaging, cover data areas and then erase the protection fuses with UV light

21 to 20 pin I believe requires mod or change of cd-rom controller chip

that's not what assember was asking.
what he had in mind is like AR for old PS that lets you bypass the securitychecking... Saturn uses the security ring on the disc and as far as I know no cart was ever made to bypass that...

    cheers

  17. I know the AR 4-in-1 cart makes it easier to pull off the swap trick - I'm not sure what exactly it does, but the machine is FAR more forgiving with the cart installed, letting botched swap attempts load that would have required me to try again were the cart not installed.

This is the Magic Card(V2 to be specific). Sorry for the shitty pics. I suck with the camera.

Basically you boot with an original game, the MC takes over and goes to the Saturns OS/CD player thing and stops the disc spinning. You then swap the "backup" in and press start application.

Thanks for the pics Chief Chujo, I think that's exactly the version of the Magic Card that it has my friend.
