What 1 thing would you buy with $1 billion?

Well, following the trend of the house-buying, I always wanted to buy one of my favourite houses in California, designed by one of my favourite architects. Unfortunately, it burnt down several years ago! If money wasn't a problem, I'd love to buy the land and rebuild the house (sadly, what remained after the fire was levelled before they put the land up for sale). The land is only $6 million, though.

I think what I'd most likely do with that sort of money to play with is make my own computer museum. I always wanted to do this in the old Atari HQ on Borregas, so maybe I'd buy it. I believe the US Defense Department no longer inhabit the first building and, considering the rent is $115,000 per month, it would be many millions if they sold. The newer building is leased, so it would be a question of paying the current tenants (yup, multiple!) off as well as buying the building! All in all, it would probably be better to build a custom (and much larger than Atari) building. So yeah, that's where my money would go.

On the topic of islands, a lot of them are uninhabitable - those that have buildings and any decent amount of space are seriously expensive. However, I once saw an interesting property for sale. It was a man-made island (I think off Florida-ish, but may be wrong). I believe it was originally made by the US Air Force or some military operation. The guy who was selling it a few years ago had been told that he needed more sun, or less sun, I forget... and that was either the reason why he bought the island or why he was selling. Anyway, it was far from pretty, being basically a concrete slab, but it was pretty self-sufficient. He had made an amazing workshop, so you could make just about anything you'd need. Certainly for us techy types, it was amazing! If anyone knows the island I'm talking about and can point me to information on it (is it still for sale?), I'd be most grateful!

Oh, that won't be a problem. Even if he found a billion people who would turn to prostitution for a dollar (and that's basically expecting almost the entire population of China, i.e. one seventh of the World population, to say yes to that!), if he were to spend one second with each one, it would take him over 31 years to get through them all. And that's not counting the fact that one second of fun time would be followed by several seconds switching prostitute, eating, using the bathroom, sleeping....

More realistically, you could pay 100,000 girls (assuming that's your poison) $10,000 each to sleep with you. If you requested an hour of each girl, that's over 11 years of non-stop sex. Naturally, you'd need your sleep! If you said 10 girls a day, that would give you a good 27 years of action... if you lasted!

Maybe you should just blow the money on somewhere to live, first! Actually owning a building means you have far more rights, too!

The card will be free, or a few dollars. Loading it will not count as the purchase. In any respect, there's no way you'll be able to load a billion dollars on a pre-paid card.

I'd have a ridiculously large old Castle style place built to live in but make it more modern on the inside. With insulation if needed, electricity, and it wouldn't be complete without a moat full of gators and a draw bridge. Adding the gators in the mix might not make it one thing but I think of it as one needing the other.
