D2 for the M2 would be something very special to see.

I actually own 2 different demo builds of D2 Dreamcast that were released in Japan. One came as a cover disc with the Dreamcast magazine and another was a pack in disc with Winds of no regret. Both versions are different from each other and the final with one being noticeably earlier with lower polygon models and textures.

Got both of those, but the build previewed at the first event is unique. It had a special built area for the demonstration, you could shoot in third person and blow up barrels for damage. The enemies were also different, same idea but different, the first one jumped down from the cabins roof. Apparently it was a buggy build though, they had a problem with Laura dropping through the world into void which happened during one of the demos Eno was presenting! I have a bunch of shots, some reports and even a scrap of video footage from this build, i should organise them and post them up sometime.

Oh yes, that's right. I remember that part. During that time I would visit Bizarre Creations (makers of DC MSR and XBOX Project Gotham games) and they told me about that buggy build. They said they weren't impressed if I remember correctly. I also remember one of the UK magazines (maybe the official Saturn mag) posting screen shots and info. Also, one of my Dreaamcast demo GDs have footage of the event from what I remember.

I'd love to see a blue disc with some Zelda stuff on it. It'll never happen though. At least for a long time. Miyamoto probably has it locked up in a safe with a note saying, "To be released when I'm dead."

Yeah, I figured you would chime in. I actually enjoy your long rants! :D Sorry about the inaccuracies in my post. I'm clearly not an expert on the subject. I can tell you a lot about the Model 3 version, though. I actually just finished fixing a problem I was having with the wiring for the PSU. I'm considering building a special shelf with a compartment for the board.

Just about any prototype or unreleased Nintendo game I'm sure would be considered pretty monumental. Especially any of the early builds of Ocarina of Time circa early 1996 through mid 1997 (this especially tops my own list). Earthbound 64... early Mario 64... The thing about many Nintendo games in particular is that you're not just getting a prototype--you're getting a glimpse into the creation of something that touched millions of kids' lives, and in some cases, changed the industry forever.

Playable versions of Conker's Twelve Tails or Dinosaur Planet are also noteworthy games that have been long sought after. Hmm.. lots of 64 games, huh?

What about the 80% build of Resident Evil 1.5?
Or even the supposed beta 1?

Also, there is always the hookman version of Resident Evil 4 as well that is highly sought after.

Not sure if they qualify as holy grail, but if you somehow ever obtained them for yourself, it would be pretty "Holy". :D

Any Starcraft Ghost builds would be pretty good too.

I'm thinking of the BeOS ports of SimCity 3000 and Unreal Tournament.
Multiplayer proto of SotC would be a good fit too...

Unreleased software that will be very hard to find:

    B.C. (Xbox)
    Starcraft Ghosts (Xbox/GC/PS2)
    Dead Phoenix (GC)
Resident Evil 4 (the early, scary version)

For me it would be the early version of Toejam and Earl 2 that was closer to the first game, before they made it into a platformer. Though even the developers don't have it anymore, so probably never going to happen.

Also any beta version of Sonic 1, so much stuff got cut or changed before release.

The SG-1000 was sold in Australia and New Zealand, both PAL regions to the best of my knowledge. I can't see that a European version would be any different other than some minor localization.

Although I'm not especially interested in the Virtua Fighter series, I found your insights very interesting. I admire your perseverance and dedication to video game history.

If someone could find a Videoway terminal, find ways to hack it. Then find all the original, now completely lost, VideoWay games and find a way to run them on the hacked terminal. He would be forever blessed by the holy spirits of retrogaming.
