I heard about an very early demo from Super Mario FX, and the game was going to be 2.5D (2D game with 3D elements), but it's very probable that maybe the game should be scrapped by now.

I've acquired a few one of a kind type of grails lately....for arcade stuff, there is so much to mention like the sprite based RayForce sequel, the unfinished arcade Spriggan which was sold on YJ years ago, unreleased Starblade sequel, Sega Looney Tunes, Neo Geo Ninja Gaiden 2, the list goes on and on

Rabbit Japanese sample kit - only 1 made; game was never released in Japan

Sega Netmerc aka Tecwar - only known recovered unit of the Model 1 based VR game by Sega and Virtuality

Fighting Vipers 2 Special Version - made by AM2 for a 1 day event in 1998

Fantasy Zone II DX - the System 16C version by M2

Nah, it's a monitor bezel used with Sega infrared gun games. You can see those circular pieces which are where the infrared sensors sit. Basically, all Sega, Namco and Taito gun games moved to this type of system from the optical guns seen in Western arcade games and mid 90s Japanese games.

I would love to see internal Chrono Trigger design documents. Much of the game was cut for time and cartridge space reasons. Why else would the party selection UI be capable of scrolling if not for an 8th character existing at some point? =)

I wish the internet would shut up about CT its rather overrated (before you pick up your pitchfork I am not saying CT is crap). Here is concept art of the playable characters including the 8th one that some think is Gaspar.

From what I've read, Super Mario FX never existed and came about as people got confused with the internal code name for the Super FX chip.

+1 for Concept/Prototype PS hardware (all gens), as well as GScube and similar.
Also, unreleased versions of SDK for said hardware.

Edit: I'll add the FF7 concept for the SNES, if it was ever coded at all...

I never realised that you could actually see the cd caddy inserted into the drive, I wonder how functional this unit was :)

My holy grail has always been the original N64 development kit based on a (at the time) $250.000 SGI Onyx...
