Kratos' character is basically "scowling asshole who kills everyone because God of War is a franchise for 12-year-olds and that's what they consider 'dark' and 'mature'".
That's pretty much the problem with a thread like this though: its our opinions. Personally I don't really care for Kratos either but I'm not going to look at people that do like they're "12 year olds liking something they consider 'dark' or 'mature'" in a mocking tone. The reason I don't like him, and can agree I don't enjoy the games, is he isn't written consistently: he's either the 'scowling asshole that kills everyone' or the sympathetic character that realizes all too late he's gone too far. If someone likes him for being dark and broody power to them. And heck if someone wants a bust of him on their desk let 'em, life's too short to give that much of a hoot what's on someone else's table.
N64 games were all crap for me, except mario kart 64 and the whole mario party series. God how i don't understand why people like smash bros. Also, I'm playing chrono trigger right now for the first time (loved every snes rpg i've played up to now.) and seriously it's really not that big of a deal for me. I've read somewhere that people love the possibilities with developing their characters, but from what I'm seeing it's just leveling up so you can get new skills (can't even choose which character can learn which move - it's all preset). And the story? Yeah, it's got time travel and many different colorful landscapes, and that's it. Generally PC games like: LoL, Minecraft, COD, Battlefield - don't do me anything. Oh and starfox sucks balls big time. Any release for any console. Any 3d zelda sucks. As a kid I liked the pokemons because, you know - Gotta catch em all. Later on I just saw that it is mind numbing and ultra repetitive. And the fact that they don't change anything in those games is aggrevating (pokemon can still use only 4 moves, no pokemon combinations, no different fighting styles depending on the terrain/opponent) - yeah I know it's supposed to get kids into gaming, and it does its job pretty well but there should be more diversity.
