Hard to believe, but not impossible. I watched my cousin play through Ninja Gaiden 1 on NES, on the actual console, when i was a kid, and he beat the game without dying once. Anytime i tell someone about it, the common response is "yeah, right.........". Cant say i blame them either, if i didnt witness it id think it was BS also.

I have to ask, did he play it like a million times before?

I just can't imagine someone doing it in one go through without lots of practice.

No doubt. Would definitely require a ton of dedication. That is something I would love to witness firsthand.

It was quite literally his ONLY nes game for a few years when we were kids, so yeah, a million might be an under-estimation XD

1CC'ing Radiant Silvergun (should have been a 1LC, but my alarm clock went off during the final boss and when I paused to turn it off it screwed me up).

    1CC'ing Soukyuugurentai.

Breaking 5 million in Blast Wind (which, on shmups.com no one else has managed to do yet).

    1CC'ing Metal Black.

Also, it's not the most difficult task, but I have 1LC'd Shinrei Jusatsushi Taromaru. I might also might have been the first (non-Japanese?) person to figure out that killing all the flames around the wheels before killing the wheel results in 1UP drops (I speculate this because it is my one contribution to GameFAQs, and it was submitted years after Taromaru came out).

Edit: And on second look it appears to be gone. So either I just posted this info on here/shmups.com or my contribution disappeared at some point.

I was top of the leaderboards for quite a while across multiple versions of Tekken 5/Tekken 5 Dark Resurrection.

I did also win a local tournament with Tekken 5. I wasn't aware they were running a free tournament to settle a score between a few people arguing, I thought the arcade was busier than usual and wanted to play Tekken 5.... I didn't realize a tournament was going on until some asked me if I had done one of these before. I ought to pay more attention sometimes. >_<

I wasn't surprised to see in the last few games (including Tag Tournament 2) that my usual characters.... Both old and new have been nerfed a little. Tekken is the fighting series that I've played for as long as I can recall across arcade versions, consoles and portable versions too and both my father and uncle have won local tournaments on the older games too so I was used to playing with them and getting my ass handed to them.

I just really chain together particular moves that have close button placements so it's easier to whittle away health and then go in for a charged attack or throw when I see a chance. That said, it's not particularly hard to beat people when most of the players in the tournament were button mashing for the most part and honestly put - I play Tekken for fun, I'm not much of a challenge type person unless it's testing my familiarity with some games by doing a few things.... Blind play of a few select Final Fantasy titles, Clock Tower games for the most part, I can also play things like Guilty Gear completely blindfolded with a controller backwards against others or on the insanity difficulty for story mode.

It's one of those typical Purse money + Arcade owner part . It isn't an official tournament and its all local players.

I've made my friend record some of the matches. They are of horrible quality though. :p

While the Marvel 1 is a local qualifying round, I wasn't able to attend the national tournament because of study/schedule conflicts.

F-Zero GX grand prix on hardest difficulty and beating Ghouls and Ghosts on professional.

But my best accomplishment is beating OoT (including water temple) without help. But that is mainly because when I was little I was afraid of the boss in the deku tree and never played afterwards until a few years ago.

GX can be a nightmare on normal I couldn't finish it. I think its mostly children that get completely stuck on the Water Temple.

I didn't think the water temple was hard, just that you don't have much bearings. But I hear all kinds of horror stories about it.

GX was literally one of the few games I got "in the zone" with and just "got", after the clouds opened and angels sang.

I like to think that I'm good at 2D-shooters. Haven't been able to play them recently due to a lack of access to my game consoles (except a US 360), but it's my favourite genre and I played it excessively during my teenage years and early 20s. Here are some of my proudest moments: :D

1-Credit Clears (Loop 1 or whole game):

    Ikaruga
30.5+ million in regular & prototype mode (German national record to date)
1cc No-miss clear in Easy and Normal Mode (Prototype and Regular)

    Ketsui
1cc (85m) after 2 weeks of occasional play in a local Japanese arcade only.
Highscore after playing it some years later: 141mil, Loop 2

    DDP Daioujou Black Label
    620 million, Stage 2-3

    Espgaluda

    50,000,000 1cc 1-miss clear

    Tatsujin Arcade-PCB
    1cc clear (1.64mil+)

    OutZone
    3.3mil (Loop 3+)

    Darius Gaiden
    7.8mil - No miss clear

    Fast Striker (MVS)
    18.89bil - max multiplier 2047 - True Last Boss

    Batsugun Special Version (SAT)
    27,7mil+, Loop 3

    Random 1ccs
    Coryoon (PCE)
Dodonpachi Daioujou, up to 2-3 (PS2)
    Dodonpachi (SAT)
    Final Soldier (PCE)
    Gate of Thunder (PCE)
    Gradius (FC)
    Gradius (PCE)
    Gradius (SAT)
    Harmful Park (PS)
    Image Fight (FC)
    Kyuukyoku Tiger (PCE)
    Nemesis (GB)
    Nemesis 2 (GB)
    Nexr (PCE)
    Same! Same! Same! (MD)
    Solar Striker (GB)
    Soldier Blade (PCE)
    Super Star Soldier (PCE)
    Vimana (PCB)

Other good scores for games I haven't been able to clear yet:

    Battle Garegga
    B,686,260 with Gain (11 million)

    Mars Matrix DC-version
    1.1 trillion, Final Stage but no clear ;_;

    Raiden Fighters Jet (PCB)
    91,144,376 - Phase 2

Beating NES Contra without being hit. Beating NES Super C without being hit 3 times in a row in a single sitting. All on original hardware.

I think I did a playthough of Virtua Fighter 3 (single player) where I suffered no KOs - or maybe I had one KO, but no continues, I can't remember. I haven't been able to do a run with no KOs again, but I'm still trying. It's not really that hard, compared to other games in the series.

I've also done some really fast playthoughs of games lately, but I didn't time them, so I can't be sure. I managed to beat Portal in 2 sessions - I could've done it all at once, but I had to stop shortly after I started.

I did a playthough of Earthworm Jim 2 where I used only one continue. I've played that game so many times, I could probably play blindfolded.

That's all I can think of, at the moment.

Speed running games has become my latest passion..... If anyone watched my video in the original post in this thread (my Zelda : OoT speed run), i got my time down from the 25:17 in that video, to 22:38 now :)

Trying to decide if my next game i speed run will be Castlevania :SotN or Super Metroid.
