It's a shame if the project is basically dead and not going to be finished. I'd like to see a fully compatible solution for playing ISOs from USB or SD for PS1. I'm sure it's possible.

It would definitely be possible, however without knowing what the issues are then it may be much harder to get from where they are today to being 100% compatible. For example some games might be written in such a way that they crash if seeking is too quick or too slow and accurately modelling that is hard. You might easily come up with a way that works in 99% of cases and as soon as you try to make it work for the other 1% then compatibility for the 99% could drop significantly. There are no 100% accurate emulators, the closest I've seen is vice x64sc & they've been working on that for many (many) years and the c64 itself has been studied for over 30 years.

"I've never spoken to Ikari, but KrikZZ I have dealt with. He is a really nice guy, but the thing is, in business, it all comes down to trust. If one partner screws you over in the slightest way, you have second thoughts. We'd be handing over the holy grail to KrikZZ, and who knows what could happen."

    This one made me LOL..

Never understood why he got banned and then came back with the same post count and his username changed to h360. The fact that we were never cleared up as to why it was allowed or who did always gave me an uneasy feeling. Thanks for the info Bad_Ad.

Very few facts in this thread. I got a PSIO a few months ago, finally. To me this thing works great! Sure getting the CUE files can be a pain sometimes, but EVERY game I've personally felt like trying is working and playable, even if the music is a no go to to the CUE config.

The price is fine. Far cheaper than some other solutions, such as those for the Dreamcast or Saturn.

Shadow has been upfront and customer friendly on his forum. He's done all the soldering for users who have sent him their mainboards, like me. He has stated his plan for early 2017 is to have injected molded shells (instead of old Gamesharks), and to source out PCB assembly. This would greatly increase the supply to be available.

cybdyn is a brilliant guy, but he's also been the one who insisted on using SD cards, and has seemed to refuse to develop a USB interface. If it were up to him, this project would have been vapor. Shadow was the muscle behind getting these to "market." I'm sorry to see a breakup, but this is a WORKING product, it's affordable per other flash card/drive solutions, and there will still be further development. I don't view it as dead.

You are mistaken, cybdyn is the only reason this product exists. Haunted never had the skills set to make this device.

    Just a little question :
Are you sure that the first Shadow (haunted, etc) is the same as the actual shadow ?
On the very older threads, Shadow speaks what seems to be russian, or polish, dunno.
The actual Shadow lives in Australia... so yes he can move, but... ?

    Its the same person.

Haunted was from Australia, hes also contacted me a few times (want me to be an official PSIO installer and pay me $5 AUD per console, which was just insulting)

^ Oh my, that was hilarious. I can only imagine cybdyn's payload at this point being just as absurd.

Shadow might not have had the hardware design skills, but he's been assembling the product. He's also been designing the software. Of course cybdyn was the brains behind the development, I didn't say otherwise. However, if it were just on his shoulders, no one would have gotten a thing. He would have gotten bored and drifted off the project as he did DCIO. I'm not privy to their behind the scenes strife, but the product (if you get a shot to buy it) was delivered, and it works very well, and I'm happy with it.

I have a feeling you cannot boot from a cartridge in the parallel port on the scph-5903, at least I think mine wouldn't when I tried.

Tbh, more than anything else, is that the ordering system is a piss take and needs sorting out. Twice I tried to get one and they claimed the last batch (Oct 2016) would fulfill enough customers, yet the orders were barely open an hour with scalpers leeching multiple units to fill their pockets up when Ideally they should limit one per customer or at least mass produce, as the interest and demand is not exactly next to nothing.

Edit: After actually reading this thread and google cache, I don't think I want one now.

it's all right with PSIO, you can check info or feedbacks from who's already bought psio

we had some problems in team, generally it was caused of 2 bosses, which is hard to run business in such case, so we decided to make some restructuration,

about Shadow, he did awesome work, he's good guy
