Hey guys! Happy New Year!! I thought I'd create this thread so that we can share the things we plan on accomplishing this year. I feel very optimistic about 2006. In the past 6 months, after graduating from comm. college, I've been prepping up myself for the big move this coming July to University of Florida to begin my studies in Architecture. This is if I get accepted into their College of Design and Construction, which I'm sure it will happen, I just have to verify a few things. Either way, my new year's resolution will be geared for this important event in my life, and so I have a few of them that I have to accomplish. One of them is to save my money, as much as I can, so that I have money for rent, etc., for when I move up there until I get a part-time job as quickly as possible. To do this, I'm not going to spend my money on videogames and the like only things I need and have to pay for. My second resolution is to rekindle my drawing/sketching skills, as well as re-acquaint myself with the whole architecture scene, the styles, popular architects, world famous buildings, etc. This is so that I'm not a total newb by the time I move up there. I'll be reading up on some books, etc to accomplish this. And my last resolution is to stay in shape. To keep attracting the ladies . So, that is all of it, really. I have until July to accomplish those two resolutions.
1) To drive more and to drive better. I stopped driving as often after I was crashed by a bus. I will return behind the wheel this year. 2) To dress formally as often as possible, generally wearing ties - because it'll be a lot of fun. Plus I can try many weird combinations. 3) To be a better boyfriend to my significant other, the Authority. So far I think I've done a pretty good job, but I can improve. 4) To obtain a better job so I can actually get close to paying my student loan. 5) To finally get my book published and have some decent progress on the new novel.
1. Write more. 2. Finish learning to play guitar. 3. Get a girlfriend...or at least ask someone out...I've got a target in mind though. 4. Be less miserable. Five (My "five" key is busted). Fix my laptop's keyboard. Six (Yeah, six too). Figure out if I can really hack it in life as an English major. 7. Gain more confidence. I've been getting better with this one... I have the opinion that I'm the most undesirable fellow on earth, but I hear occasionally that despite my insistance otherwise that I'm hansomeish/charmingy. I almost believe it. 8. Talk more. 9. Exercise more. Last year I dropped a bit of weight (Nobody ever thought I was fat though!) and now I'm gonna toss on some muscle. Last year was all running, this year I'm adding in swimming. Hulkamania rules. 10. Dress nicer. Ok, I've gotten better on this one already, but I need to buy nicer shirts. I totally bought a nice sweater a few days ago...and got some sneakers today...so that's good. Wow, that was easy. And I thought I didn't know what I want in life...now if i can just get some of that done. Writing I sometimes get burned out on...guitar is doable...just gotta find more time...I like excercise...I've never swam for exercise...but I ran a ton...and I hear swimming is easier and better exercise. Confidence and talking and women...those are all bunched together...aren't they? Still, I feel I'm getting better at all of them. One of these days I might come to grips with the idea that I'm probably a decent person. Sorry, I rambled.
1. Bye bye belly. But thats been one for the last many years, and has never happened. Worth a go though I want to fit into 36 or 38" trousers 2. Do some bloody work. Quit procrastinating. 3. Get into Imperial college (uni in london) by doing plenty of 2. Nice and simple...
This is gonna be my hardest year ever since I was born. I have college ahead of me, so I'm gonna be studying like crazy, especially with the SAT testing soon. 1. I'm going to work harder than I ever did. 2. I'm not gonna be lazy in certain things, like football and track & field. 3. I'll stop procrastinating. 4. I'm going to save enough money for a Playstation 3, then sell it on eBay. 5. I'm going to try making a 1600 on the SAT. 6. Get a girlfriend... been single for a while after my last one dumped me. :crying: 7. Do as much volunteer work as I can.
1. Drink much less than I do 2. Eat healthier (too much mcdonalds and fizzy drinks) 3. Update my site regularly 4. Get to the gym (I'm nowhere near fat but I'm not too muscular) 5. Get even with someone I lost a fight against in Dec '04 6. Get a full time second job, and climb the ladder in my night job... 2006 is time to make some serious cash 7. Buy a TVR (around October time) Andy
Just curious, do you mean for all 3 parts combined? (some places only count the first 2, but most all 3 now). If so, you shouldnt have that much trouble. I went in without studying at all (smart one, I know) and got a 1780 on all 3 parts combined My resolutions: 1. Get ready for college by starting to narrow down what I want to go for 2. Get my parents to stop smoking o_o They hate smoking but cant seem to stop anyway 3. Have fun doing stuff I love while I can.
Mine 1. Get the website up and running, been delayed long enough, should be up today.. 2. Shed the gut, though it does make for a good place to rest things on 3. Get a girlfriend......errr...no..too much effort and time 4. Stop being a lazy ass slob 5. Be happy, nicer to people 6.clean the computer!, Have nor defragged since Augest 2004 Oh well, just the usual really, oh, and rule the world Ryan
Get most of the games off my wishlist. Work on my site some more. I believe its already worthy of Gamespys free space deal, but Im still working on it.
1. Construct a particle accelerator, finally finish that death ray I've been working on. 2. Eat more beans, so I can develop the power to fart at will. Then I will genetically manipulate myself as to create superfarts, as to propel myself through the air. 3. Invent time machine, go back in time, set myself up as a god to our distant caveman ancestors so they create a gigantic world religion based on me, then come foward in time and "reveal" myself to my humble followers so that we may begin the cleansing. 4. Stop smoking. As much. 5. Begin consuming small quantities of dangerous piosions like arsnic, cyanniade, etc as to build up an immunity to them. 6. Continue to build up my kung-fu skills and travel the world looking for worthy opponents to defeat, and learn how to throw sonic booms. 7. Line my stomach with hard acryllic, then teach myself to vomit on command, so the next time I go to a reationary political function where some corporate tool is persuading people to vote against their own economic interests I can projectile vomit a gallon of boric acid all up in his face and ruin his shit. Specifically for that reason. 8. Replace all my VHS tapes with DVDs. Becasue they take up too much space. 9. Create a female android-clone in my likeness, except really hot with a nice boo-tay, so that I my propogate my terrible genius in a thousand year riech. 10. Go to McDonalds, get a six piece chicken Mcnuggets and a large orange drink. 11. Actually eat one of those 30 submarine sandwiches in one setting. 12. Genetically manipulate my cat as to get it to stop being so damn annoying, becasue it claws all my stuff up and pees everywhere. Or else just get a komodo dragon as a pet so it can eat the cat, then I can breed the dragons and engineer them too into 100 foot monsters and sell them to world governments as bioweapons. 13. Find the remote control for my other DVD player. There's not even any controls on the front of it, so I can't even use it without the remote control. Fucking bullshit. 14. Get my own place. Prefrebly one with lots of space to continue my experiments in cross breeding mice with monkies and corn, so I can make my corn-headed-mouse-gorilla that I used to have for an imaginary friend real.
best resolution you can ever do is to never take resolutions again, because we all know it never works. The key is not to eat less, if you do so you will just eat more than you did in a bout 2 weeks. The key is to eat better, and not private yourself from things you like, just take smaller portions of it (if its not good for general health), and compasate with a portion of something else (that is better, of course). The REAL key is to move. You need to force yourself to take walks and all. Take a 2 hour walk a day, and im sure you'll see big results in less than 2 months.
  ray:  Nicely done Hawanja. I was hoping you'd contribute to this thread, because its always bloody funny when you do soemthing like this... Thanks for the advice, I know what I need to do - its just a case of actually doing it! :banghead:
got my new years promise already last year: switch from 8hour shift to 12hour reduce weekly worktime from 39 to 37.5 hours (so salary goes down also) reduce free days for holiday from 30days to 21days yeah i like 2006... for my self i hope i gather enough time to dig into my 3do m2 stuff since my moving to the new home is nearly finished
2 hours a day isnt bad really, i walk 40 minutes home from school each day, so maybe side tracking and taking the longer way home will yeild better results, also, stop drinking cola/caffinated beverages, drink more water, or flavoured water, cuts calories by 3.
