I've searched the forums... I've scowered the web... last glimmer of hope was in 2005...

Does anyone know ANYTHING about this game?

What the hell can be done?!? I feel like this should be in Rare & Obscure these days...

Why would Yu do this... why.....?

It's like the hottest girl you've ever seen is teasing you... right in front you... rubbing herself against you naked and you can't do a damned thing about it. :noooo:

    I need closure...

    Any information....?!?

    ANY AT ALL?!?

we ve had this discussion before.

the logistics of the project dont add-up.

Money has provenly been made with more simple and cheap projects - the unexpectedly low sales of the first shenmue games also proved that heavy and expensive input doesnt mean a rich output.

According to that story over at Kikizo Yu Suzuki's has had it done for quite a while and is just waiting for Nintendo, Microsoft or Sony to grab it but it sounds like rubbish to me :| If this is true then don't expect it to happen any time soon due to the fact that Yu Suzuki is hard at work on Shenmue online and said its going to be some years till hes done and dusted with that and the content he wants to add over the years after its launch. He has said in interviews that he wants to finish the story for the fans.

While looking on the net for a good two hours a month ago I found these not sure if they mean anything

Why make the whole thing, then release two thirds... honestly. I would buy a bastard PS3 now just to play this damned thing. He could charge £200 for the game and I'd fucking pay it.

It doesn't make sense to have the game almost finished and not release it after two previous entries...

    He's fucking with my mind.

    The fucker.

it's not him, it's the companies that fund publish games. Why develop an expensive next gen shenmue to finish the story for the number of people who still actually care, when you could just churn out another Madden or shitty sonic game and sell many more copies in comparison.

Any more news on the Shenmue Online beta which apperently happened? I was hoping there would be a public beta to test out but not heard anything on it or the game for that matter for well over a year :-(

firstly, Shenmue isn't 3 parts, it could easily be more.

Secondly, releasing the first two games made sense, because it was on the same system, using more or less the same engine and assets.

Imagine the level of detail you d need for something lke Shenmue today. It would take a good 4 years to develop, and by the time it would be out the graphics would probably be dated (the duke nukem forever syndrome perhaps).

Aside from that paradox loop, there's the ton of cash you have to pay the team to make the game for you - and SEGA doesn't really need to do that when they have so many other franchises and easier ways to make money.

All these people saying Shenmue 3 is sitting there on a shelf finished. Wake up guys, it's not. Some priliminary work was probably completed and assets probably exist left over from the Saturn work and that weren't used in Shenmue 1 & 2. Sega knew they were flogging a dead horse when Shenmue 1 bombed and probably only released Shenmue 2 because of politics and the fact they'd steamed ahead with part 2 before part 1 hit retail. That and Microsoft gave them a massive chunk of cash to port it to the XBox.

Shenmue 3 doesn't exist and probably never will.

    Agreed, nothing has been completed.

Shenmue MMO was killed it was China only though

Yu Suzuki is no longer in the same postion at Sega, he's behind closed doors. AM2 is still around but most everyone who did everything during the Dreamcast era are gone.

No one would like to see the series continue more then I would but considering the first two bombed and Sega had dumped more then 20 million into it you can see why no one is interested.

Kikizo story is years old and more wishful thinking then anything else.

Again I'd love to the series continue but I know it won't.

If you look at old footage and what not you can kind of guess how it all ends.

If Nights can come back then sega can bring any game back at any time
