I'm not sure this has been posted yet, so I thought I'd share. Its somewhat coincidental, the poster is wondering about the fate of the Shenmue series, yet a mere 5 days ago, this article appeared on IGN. http://xbox360.ign.com/articles/811/811423p1.html Very interesting. Maybe we will find out something by TGS in September?
I strongly doubt it. I wouldn't read too much into it being BC on the 360 as it could have been one those titles that just "worked" on the EMU build i.e. Barbie's Horse Adventures. I don't think the BC team focuses on specific titles but I could be wrong. MS only had the NA rights to it every other region got it on the Dreamcast. It would be a hard pitch to make to a publisher considering the two titles failed in both NA and JPN. I also wouldn't read too much into the Virtua Fighter angle as it's been thought this was the VF RPG that Suzki had mentioned waaaaay back. Also Virtua Fighter 5 was the first VF in the series that Suzki had nothing to do with. All that being said one could argue that the "hard work" is done, the engine is done and works . I 'm amazed by the amount games that use Quick Time Events now i.e. Spiderman 3, the last Tomb Raider, God of War etc.. Again no one would like to see it happen more then I would but I think we'll see MS be a success in JPN before another Shenmue.
