Why Frieza doesn't said "Papa" not "Otōsan お父さん" ??

I disagree with that. Just because someone likes dubs doesn't automaticly make them illiterate there are some people who like dubs because it's in their native tongue which makes it easier for them to understand and keep up with whats going on better than hearing it in a different language and having to read subtitles. (I can watch something either way dubbed or subbed but do you honestly expect children and most young people to take the time to learn a new language when something is already in their native tongue to begin with? it would be nice I admit but thats not how it works for most people).

 

When you're reading subs You can miss out on all the things going On in the background.

I don't mind Dragon Ball's dubs if for no other reason than that Goku doesn't sound like he lacks testicles.

 

I saw Blavk Lagoon dubbed and didn't like it so much BUT maybe that's because I saw the whole series subbed first. To me, some anime is better dubbed but maybe because I originally saw them bubbed before subbed. Then on the other hand there are some dubs which are bloody awful no matter which order you see them in, subs or dubs first.

I think Dragonball in general is shit. Same with the likes of One Piece, Bleach, Naruto and so on.

 

Abridged is great even if you hate the Weeaboo bait long ass shows.

 

Dragon ball z was my teen age years , please don't be too harsh on it all the rest I can understand the sucked. I went to anime shows when they were still small and bought bootlegs with subtitles.

"Nan no hon desu ka?　何の本ですか？" = What (type of) book is it?
or even
"Hon no taitoru wa (ha) nan desu ka?　本のタイトルは何ですか？" = What is the title of the book.

Yehaw. Studying Kanji finally pays off - incidentally I know all of those, hahah.

By the way, is there a (has to be quite popular and available in stores) manga that you would recommend to a beginner? I'd like some basic Kanji but nothing too advanced. I know about 200 so anything that is about something too sophisticated (i.e. a hospital manga with all those medicine specific expressions) is of no use to me. I just want to get more familiar with written everyday Japanese.

There's a local Book Off in my area that sells tons of Japanese mangas, so if I could find it there it would be great. I hate Dragonball by the way. ;-)
I don't really care what it's about, but something of the difficulty of the Shin chan manga cited above would be great.
