Although I didnt dig the game, Nier's soundtrack had that Panzer Dragoon vibe to it.
Although I love the arcade music that Sega did, I also have a soft spot for the tunes that the Namco sound team pumped out with Ridge Racer, Rave Racer, Ace Driver - Victory Lap, Alpine Racer, Tekken 2, Numan Atheletics, Outfoxies, etc, etc...
There are many great SEGA soundtracks out there, but then again I love a lot of video game music. I have about 10GB video game music on my harddrive (almost 3,000 songs) and I listen to all of it. SEGA isn't even a big part of it though, I often think that it gets a bit cheesy when they add vocals I am more a fan of the classic stuff like OutRun, Space Harrier and so on. Sonic R, Sonic CD, Scud Race, Sega Rally, Daytona and Sega Touring Car C. was awesome too. Super Sonic Racing has to be one of my favorite Sega sounds of all time... ****Everybody's Super Sonic Racing, try to keep your feet right on the ground **** ****When you're Super Sonic Racing there's no time to look around **** Some other companies did stuff that I like more. Taito with Zuntata, Konami with Kukeiha Club, or single composers such as Toaplan's Tatsuya Uemura, Namiki Manabu (Battle Garegga, DDP Daioujou, Ketsui) and Shinji Hosoe (Ibara, Street Fighter EX1-3). Also with all the praise of SEGAs sounds it sometimes seems like we take all the Nintendo sounds for granted. I did not grow up with the NES and despite my love for many systems other than the NES/FC: For me, the actual expression "retro gaming" is eternally interconnected with this "dadub dub dadub DUP". It was ingenious, and SEGA never came close to this.
Not exactly a pure Sega song, I believe it's a collaboration with another artist, but always one of my favourites. In fact most of Sonic CDs music is good, I even like the US soundtrack as different as it is.
Yeah, I think it's because of that, most arcade games also need fast paced music which Sega has always succeeded at; even some crap games like Sonic the Fighters had good music. Although most of Sega's vocal tracks are terrible, especially the OutRun 2006 ones.
Exactly, and the other ones weren't much better. And let's not forget the rap songs from Sonic Adventure 2.
You forgot some http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Jvi0CvxTiw http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q1igtIiQB40 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-_Tam9lv1KQ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfU5eYAoIVc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QLuw2x0BEH8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9envpoOpHIA
Shenmue has some awesome music. This one always gets stuck in my head:
Nah, if you had really wanted to annoy me you would've posted the Pumpkin Hill song, since it took me like 15 minutes to finish it, and that means the entire song looped about three times. But enough about bad Sega music, here's something good:
Some of my favourites (not yet posted) OutRun - Splash Wave http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WiWiTXq4yYY OutRun 2 / 2006 - Splash Wave : The original is already amazing, this is epic. Love driving listening to it. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ThxfP7eF6Fg OutRun 2 / 2006 - Magical Sound Shower http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0jBtqvnKDgI OutRun 2 / 2006 - Passing Breeze http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S6PVwbHcScI Sonic 2 Casino Night Zone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jl6kjAkVw_s Sonic 2 Metropolis Zone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yRuJfhEeCe8 Alex Kidd in Miracle World: Love the song that plays on the castles. lol http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5phZ0E0D5ns&feature=related Sonic Marble Zone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LXukwNQG0uA Virtua Racing: The checkpoint tunes http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G3PcHBFsjxg Daytona USA: The King of Speed http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lrltm5LfUrQ Daytona USA: Sky High http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WYRfBISyu9o
That was my first choice actually. Anyways back to the Good Stuff I shit myself when I heard this in the announcement video for JSRF
I can't remember how many copies of this game I've purchased for the music alone! The arcade machine now a days is VERY affordable which made it very difficult to say no to breaking my living room window just to get her in!
NOOOOOOO>>>>> That shit ruined the game for me. I hated 90% of the music in Sonic Adventure 2 but that rap shit was the absolute worst crap I've ever heard in a Sega Game.
