Why you can't fundraise to release betas here ?

So I have a beta I am keen to release for money. But there is no way I am giving it out for free. So why this is no longer allowed this should be re-appealed that is easy money for me. Is there other place you can do this

The rules are in place for a reason. Prior to the site going down it was allowed, but due to multiple reasons it's no longer permitted.
As someone who did a fundraiser myself (through gofundme, please heed my warning, that % cut they have is huge) it isn't the easiest thing to work with.
Furthering this, with your history it's clear youre wanting a fundraiser so you can buy betas for yourself without releasing them back to the people that donated (and this is not a strech to be assuming for most people).

The simple answer: Because no fund raising.
The long answer: Troublesome, can be seen as a problem for administration of the site (depends on things), donors might never see that donation come back in some form (buy build, rip and release). As such for those and undisclosed reasons there's no fundraising here.

If I understand the rules correctly, you could still base the fundraiser elsewhere and link to it from here. But don't expect people to send you tons of money if you have no credentials.

You are new here so its cool but you should look else were for free money to release betas now. Try Gofundme or social media

 

He's new in terms of time but is not new in terms of presence. He doesn't like most of the rules

 

Is the obsession with owning betas just to have something that others don't?

 

Sometimes theres only 1 copy, therefore you get to dictate what happens.
However, in the case of most, there is always another copy and/or a circle of people that have the same data making it an "exclusive" item. This was (once) the case for Battlefront 3. The more people that own it the more worthless it is to collectors, but the more people like the shared data. It's all up to debate as to why.

For instance, nearly all builds I have are public. That should give a good idea on why collectors dont like me nearly as much as those who want to try out the builds (not saying you all hate me but I know some lads got pissed when I shared certain stuff).

Or you go the ego stroking route which is where you just buy up everything since you have an excessive amount of money and just buy at a price that nobody else will top

 

Sometimes it is a money thing, Ive been open to sharing more of my collection, but I can't just write it off, especially when some cost over $1000. It has to be a shared thing. There are also legal issues for those of us who have wanted to do more than just collect a beta or two and call it a day.

 

Is selling stuff a way people make money ?

There is a betas I have. Why should I let it go for free. On the fundraiser thread if I was allowed I would also posted proof of ownership and after it reach the goal. I would have returned it with a link to the iso of download.

 

That's quite a hard selling point especially after your reaction with the R&C beta that was released.
There is no fundraising on assember. If you wish to do it then you may use another site to host it.
