Where are you pre-ordering your US/NTSC Wii consoles from? I m looking to book one in time if possible.
I'm preordering from my local Gamestop, and even called to confirm they are taking pre-orders tommorow. One thing was strange on the website "Due to extremely limited supply, we expect to reach our limit very quickly, most likely in minutes". Extremely limited supply?!! Nintendo was boasting 4 or 6 million by end of fiscal year. It can't be compared to the PS3's 400,000. I'm thinking they just copy and pasted from the PS3 preorder info and replaced PS3 with Nintendo Wii. Tommorow morning before class hopefully the stub will be in my hand.
when i called a few ebs they all told me they expected even more people then the ps3.it sounds like each store is getting 11 to preorder.im planing on going a few hours early for the hell of it.does anyone know how many dreamcasts were launched back in '99?it seemed like it was no problem preordering one and getting on at launch.
Considering how the 360 launch seemed to catch everyone off guard in regards to supply (ie: the crazy eBay prices, no stock for months, etc). Back in 2001 when the GC and Xbox launched, there were shortages but not to the extent of the 360. I think the retailers have finally taken this into consideration and wisely limiting pre-orders. The DC was another story altogether, if you recall, many "gamers" were holding off and waiting for the PS2, plus Sega had a pretty decent number of systems in the channel prior to launch.
Im glad they are doing this system and being honest about a possiblity of not having a unit avalible. But realisticly this is only one retailer chain. The real outcome will be at places like target, walmart, and best buy.
I want to but they want $200 deposit which for the Wii is too much ($100 I can do atm but not 2/3 the price, fyi i'm in canada). Also EB up here does pre orders on monday. Also not sure but I thought nintendo stated first shipment to NA is 400k units.
I just got back from reserving my Wii. 3rd in line My mom got one back home too, I think she was first. So im in an awesome mood
Heres some of the people behind me (some arent pictured) when they opened up And after I got wendys and ate
When I got to the mall today there were 30 people waiting in line, even before the store opened. I did manage to get my preorder in, along with Zelda, Red Steel, Metal Slug Collection and the classic controller. Looks like Nintendo is succeeding in getting its message accross, as the people in line were a combination og hardcore gamers and prents shopping for Christmas.
The Gamestop, EB games, and Software Etc on route 22 near me were all out. Luckily my area is surrounded by gamestops, etc. Of the store managers called one in a nearby mall and they said "they have 10 left", hauled ass to the mall and reserved it. If you look on ebay allready there are people selling reseved ones auctions 300+$, and buy it now's for 600$ (PS3 price). Man I feel sorry for anyone who has to buy from there.
I went to one store only to get turned away.....sold out. So I found another store, and saw this line at 9AM (1hr before opening): I was 9th in line. By 10AM when the store opened, it looked like THIS: I scored my preorder though, and I'm happy as a clam. Hopefully they'll do a midnight launch on the 18th of Nov.
You probably need to get someone that lives here to pre-order one and ship it to you. That would make the most sense, or just have someone do a walk in. I intend to just walk in on launch day at a store that doesn't do pre-orders.
Went to the same GameStop I did for the PS3 (was #1 in line) and was #2 in line for the Wii. I *should* wind up with both on launch day. Woo hoo!
Don't you guys think that just from the lines of people waiting to pre-order a Wii that it's going to out sell the PS3 big time_? Yakumo
