So, the other day I go to Gamestop to pick up a classic controller, and I see that it has a sticker on it saying 7500 wii points included. When I saw it, I didn't think anything of it as I thought n64 games were 10,000, snes 8000 ect, but then when I added the points and saw the game prices, I nearly shit myself. Yesterday, I went to the EB in town and told them about it, and as it turns out only store workers were supposed to get them as a promotion from nintendo. I guess Gamestop employs really are stupid!
Fun note. 1 new TG16 rom up. It's Super Star Soldier. DAMN YOU. I would have killed for that. Really pist off NA does not get the deal japan gets (5,000 pts + VC controller for 5,000 Yen, you get the controller esentualy for free).
With Super Mario 64, does the VC version have the added stars & content from the DS game? I've always wanted to play the DS version with an analog stick. Would I be able to do this with PC emulation? The touchpad just ruins it, IMO. The added content is fantastic though.
2 more games are up today: Echo Dolphin & Golden Axe. Sadly don't feel either are with $8. Now if only they would hurry up on gunstar heroes. No. People keep forgeting all thies games are purely just an emulator, a rom and a manual. Nothing is changed or modified in any games.
IGN said something about nintendo having an "updating" option for VC games (no content for update yet)
Mention but there is no clue what that represents. It's posible it just represents bug fixes in the emulation. Much like XBLA games update when there is a new patch (even tho nothing is changed visualy in the game).
I hope they don't update any "effects" like some XBLA games (eg contra). I m also surprised that allowed such poor genesis emulation. Is TG16 accurate? (someone give some insight on the MSX - where metal gear, castlevania, and others started xD )
What really bothers me about the Japanese Wii VC lineup is that many of the titles on offer are actually ports of arcade games. Why would you want the Famicom version of Donkey Kong or the Mega Drive version of Altered Beast if their arcade counterparts are clearly superior? I would have preferred 100% emulation of the arcade versions instead of the console versions. Nintendo really went the cheap route here. Also, is there any word on if anything has been added to the games? I have most of the titles on offer original so I'm not inclined to purchase unless soemthing extra is included. I dream of new worlds to discover in Super Mario World.
I think they should make the VC games far cheaper. Get people to buy them in droves. Prices right now make emulation far more palettable, or even buying the actual older consoles and playing the games the authentic way.
Just going on the process up to and including downloading the games, using the UK system.... GAMES altered beast 800pts bomberman 93 600pts bonk's adventure 600pts donkey kong (nes) 500pts dkc 800pts ecco 800pts f-zero 800pts mario bros 500pts (NOT super mario bros) sonic 800pts super mario 64 1000pts f-zero woot super star soldier 600pts legend of zelda 500pts victory run 600pts wario's woods 500pts POINTS COST 1000 points £6.99 3000 points £21 5000 points £35 This makes all packages the same cost per point (as per Xbox Live), 0.7p per point. In fact, you save 5p buying 5x1000 points So, games being 500-1000 points are £3.50 - £7. Not all that bad, really - you'd often pay that for a second hand cartridge. And if some rarer games come out, cool! You can't have more than 10,000 points in your account. Oh, and as for memory, I started with 2160 blocks, and each game was around 100 blocks so far. Mario 64 was something like 150. As for the interface..... DEFINATELY looks like it was designed by/for the Japanese. By Apple. Sterile and a lil boring, but simple and elegant at the same time. The lift muzac is DAMNED ANNOYING!!! And why do I wanna add to that with Mario or Luigi running around collecting coins and hitting coin blocks when a download is going??!?!? All in all, not bad... but there's not great content yet. I think its real benefit is multiplayer games. Yay for Bomberman, but let's see some Goldeneye, Mario Kart, Street Fighter II etc!!
Finally got my Japanese Wii online today after 1 whole week of messing about. I'm very happy with the quality of the virtual console. Got myself Akumajo Dracula (Castlevania 4) for the SFC and Super Star Soldier on the PC Engine. I didn't get anything on the Mega Drive because I own everything they have for download and as for the FC..... well, I'm not paying for 8 bit stuff that I can play on the Dreamcast via Emulation. The SFC and PCE games run just as if they are on the real systems but now look extra nice thanks to the beautiful Wii video output. The added bonus of the digital instruction book is nice as well. I just hope they get some more N64 stuff up soon. Can't be arsed with Mario 64. I think I'll download Google for the misus. That should keep her off my PC  Yakumo
Not AFAIK We're allegedly getting 4 new games every Monday. I took my Wii round a friend's - will have to set it up again and take a look later to see if there are any more! Damn you for getting cooler downloads, as always! Oh, another thing, it asks if you want to link your Wii account with your Club Nintendo (or whatever its called here) account. Maybe there will be some kind of points tie-in? Maybe we'll get something actually worth spending the points on?!?!
Actually I heard that only the pal genesis emulation suffers this since it tries to emulate exactly how games were displayed in pal format. Unless are you using a U.S console? Btw what was europes release list?
the list I have (from nintendo.se) is: NES Baseball, Donkey Kong, Donkey Kong Jr., Ice Hockey, Mario Bros., Pinball, Soccer, Solomon's Key, Tennis, The Legend of Zelda, Urban Champion, Wario's Woods SNES Donkey Kong Country, F-Zero, SimCity N64 Super Mario 64 SEGA MEGA DRIVE Sonic the Hedgehog, Altered Beast, Golden Axe, Columns, Gunstar Heroes, Ecco the Dolphin, Space Harrier II, Toe Jam & Earl, Ristar, Dr. Robotonik’s Mean Bean Machine Turbografx (PC Engine) Bonk’s Adventure, Super Star Soldier, Victory Run, Bomberman’93, Dungeon Explorer hopefully I will recive a wifi card in this week so I can confirm it
bastard. Actualy I keep asking someone from the wii hack group to try getting a usa unit on the VCJ site but nobody has tried still. It seems more then posible.
The list I posted on this very page was THE list as of launch date in the UK. Written and confirmed by actually logging on and looking. ;-)
Price and selection are my only big beefs when it comes to the VC. Four games a week is really not a good deal and the quality of the current selection has been pretty weak. Where's the big guns? Metroid, Zelda? Mario World? The price is something that needs to be fixed, and soon. I would pay 8 bucks for something like Chrono Trigger but for Mario? Um... haven't I already bought that game 4 times already?
Agreed on the video output, super mario world looks amazing its so sharp & crisp & mario 64 looks pretty good due to the anti ailiasing been turned of so no blurryness (^_^) So far i have bought..... Super mario world Legend of zelda link to the past Super mario bros Bomberman 94 PC Genjin Super mario 64 (shindou version) Not too keen on the digital manuals, i wish they had scanned in the real manuals like sonic mega collection as i love the artwork in them. But thats only a tiny downer. So far im pretty impressed with the VC.
any chance you try a gcn (wired version) controller on Super Mario 64? I can't understand why they would use the rumble edition if the emu does not suport rumble (noa sated no rumble suport).
