well i though i would post my opinion on the matter. If you've tried the VC, post your opinion as well. ------------------------------------ Ok gonna break this into a few parts. - General Opinion - ARG. Freaking over price rip off on most games. Most nes games you can find in animal crossing, bonus disc or gba/e-cards. Snes games I still feel very meh on but mostly over the price. N64 games I somewhat accept at $10 but wish they were cheaper. Genisis is a pure rip off, go buy the ps2/psp gen compilation (i would not be shocked if they used Digital Eclipse for the gen emulation, starting to find issues in the psp gen collection). TG16  , $6 and awsome games. Pretty much I think the price range should be this Nes - $2 / $3 for advance nes games like super mario 3. Snes - $5 N64 - $8-$10 (i accept $10 since they are complicated games to emulate). Genesis - $4 / $5 TG16 - $4 / $5 I find thoes prices solid middle ground with out being too low. Sure sony is doing ps1 game (good ps1 games at that) for $5 and offers playing on more then 1 system, but I really though they would do the more $8-$10 range. Yet if sony can do ps1 for $5, nintendo could surely do even cheaper then what I feel above. -- Games I've Played -- Bomberman '93:  I am in total heven. While yeah its $6 I find it the best deal on the VC. The reason is the game is awsome period, only $1 more then crapy nes games (minus zelda), SUPPORTS UP TO 5 PLAYERS & still is ***king hard to this day (i am having a hard time beating the world A boss). Flat out if you're gonna buy a VC game & like bomberman, this is a total no brainer. I just hope Hudson is not a dick like nintendo and gives us JPN PC-E games as well. I totaly want Bomberman '94 which japan is actualy getting this year. Super Mario 64: :banghead: I love Mario 64, It's one of my favorites but really I am starting to regret buying it. The reason is not because it's a bad game, it's just because i've played it way too much in the past. I feel kind of burnt out to play though it again. I will boot it and play from time to time but over all I got 1 star and was ready to go play something else. I probably would not feel this way if we did not have Super Mario 64 DS. N64 ver is still better in my opinion (analog stick is why) but again, i've beaten it 2-3 times on n64 and once on ds. Other then that Super Mario 64 emulation wise is really well done. There are maybe a few issues of slow down (extreamly rare) or I think a few minor lighting issues (need to boot it on the n64 and verify first). -- Virtual Console Controller -- Well for Mario 64 I felt it was good but still kind of meh to the idea. Now after playing Bomberman, I am in love with the controller. The d-pad on the Wii remote is a little too small for playing 2d games on yet the d-pad on the VC controller is perfect. Second the button layout for TG-16 games are much better since the turbo buttons are mapped to the buttons above and not strange places like B & A on the Wii remote. Over all, I would recomend VC Controller for ANY/ALL 2D games. A toss up between it & Gcn controller for 3D games.
Oh yea (sorry need seperate post for this). I examined both games on my pc (you can have the wii copy them to an SD). There are alot of common parts in the file at the end. So my assumption is the header info is at the end and the rom is at the start (but encrypted). The end header probably contains your Wii's uniqe ID number & has a CRC for the whole thing.
It's a great idea, but overpriced in my opinion, and could have been executed better in general. For one thing, why isn't the classic controller completely wireless? That would have helped. Not sure if anything could help with the N64 issue. Also there is the matter of game selection as not every company is around or wanting to bring their games to it. Xbox is my "Virtual Console" thank you very much.
I use it for that too. It's very handy for strange things like mkv files and oxm or whatever they are called. I need to grab component or s-video cables for my xbox now that I have a LCD that shows how horrid composite video really is. I've actually ordered 2 cables. One does S-Video for SNES, N64, GameCube, PS1, PS2, and Xbox... and the other one does Component Video for Xbox and PS2. 20$ for both, not too bad!
Did you guys knwo that in Japan from 2007 you'll also be able to play MSX games on the Wii via the Virtual Console. Yakumo
Yes, we know , that's why we re so dissapointed with nintendo's decision of keeping it local. The internet is ABOUT a global experience , yet the wanker directors of nintendo think otherwise. This is what happens when you have some old farts running a company. Business evovles, new blood is needed in managment, and I say ASAP!
!!!! Wtf, how does that work? 4 VC controllers and 1 gamecube controller? and or 4 gamecube and 1 VC controller? If it's possible with bomberman, they must include it for dungeon explorer!
I think I read from an IGN staff that nintendo recomends 4 Wii/VC Controllers & 1 GCN controller. Someone tried 3 Wii & 2 GCN controllers and it did not work. Also maybe what gcn port you hook it into makes a difference. Will check the manual tonight.
I think you just sold me on Bomberman Subbie! I was hesitating to buy ANY games on the VC simply because, why bother? But 5 player! Sold!
funny to quote my self. I checked the manual. The instructions are not fully clear but they say to do 5 players you need at least 1 gcn controller and the gcn controller should hold down the r button (r trigger?) then start a battle mode. I dont have 5 controllers to test but I did see if it would force my gcn controller as player 5 but sadly no luck. I guess maybe it needs to see more then 4 controllers. Also funny stuff, the gcn ports derive who you are. So if you have a wii remote on and a gcn controller in port 1, you both controll the same guy. You need to plug the controller in port 2.
how's F-Zero 64? it was played in a strenge fashion on the N64 controller... i loved the game but the video out from N64 was so BAD that i stopped playing also you said SLOWDOWNS? craP! i hope it is not so
@subbie.. pff..showoff ;-) I know my courses are better designed than yours,:110: too bad we cant trade on RandNET:crying: I have beat all the time trials in my original cart and this is the proof
I tried saving a Zelda game save from my friends Wii on an SD card, do you think anyones tried any hacking type crap with that stuff yet? Such as the VC games?
hmm..save file on SD...hack save file... load in-game loader thru save... hack game...access to wii... mmm..
not to condone piracy but if you get bomberman 93, I would be interested in seeing it. I had a though yesterday that maybe nintendo is smart and the data file is identical on all systems, The cercificate tho is stored in an unaccessible part of the system. Tho nintendo could have not been smart and it its just in the header at the end of the file with an encrypted crc.
We didn't end up getting Bomberman, but just for kicks I looked at the Zelda save on my comp and it looked like it was a .bin I think? I just wonder how long it'll take. We were gunna see if we could find my friend a completed TP save to make the Zelda fanboy at work crazy lol.
Well here is what I figured out so far. You can transfer 2 of 3 files to your SD. You can not transfer savestates to the SD (kind of interesting). What you can transfer is the Rom itself and the Game save (if it makes one, Note that games that have no internal save will still make a save on your Wii, this is the savestate made when you exit to the wii menu). Both are .bin files with a few serial/keys in the end of the file. I currently need to get my hands on 2 files of the same game to figure out what is different. It's very posible the rom is uniqly encrypted per system. It's also very posible the rom is a single encryption (not uniqe) but there is a serial key that is encrypted and a CRC on the whole thing. I will better figure this out over the weekend once money from paypal transfers to my credit card (I found f-zero VC dump on the net). Just gotta dl it on my wii. Sorry I though you ment F-zero Snes. I like it for the n64. It's definantly more difficult with the 3 extra DD circuts. The track maker is awsome but the car maker is too limited.
