Sorry to crash in like this, but I just came off playing No More Heroes on Wii. I can't remember ever having as much fun with any MGS games. Not that it's anywhere as detailed or deep, but hey, it's fun! I know that there's a big fan-base amongst you for MGS, but I think we all need to give a break to new games , not just sequels =) speaking of which, I think No More Heroes is doing very badly , anyone got any sales numbers so far?
No More Heroes actually did pretty well in the US and is supposedly doing even better in Europe. It bombed in Japan though. And I agree, No More Heroes was awesome.
Well I guess it would be wrong to dismiss it completely, as I think alot of people probably will buy a PS3 at the launch of MGS4, but when was the last time a game sold 1 million the first day? By the sound of it, if I were to speculate, this will force them to launch it worldwide at the same time. Could be just talk to get attention, though.
Crysis makes MGS4 look really old...;-) cloaking suit should be mandatory these days!!!!!!!!! Never liked FF so not bothered, I liked the first MGS it was brilliant, MGS2 boring...MGS3 not bothered although I found the network game really good. They can port it to 360 although good luck with all the Cell specific stuff, but Burnout paradise was developed on PS3 and looks great on 360 still. Still I won't run and buy them. Way more excited by GoW 2:thumbsup:
Yeah, I think MGS4 could suffer the "messiah effect". After all, messiah was very hyped for its graphics and engine, but it took so long to release than when it did most games had the same quality, ir not more.
Hum I never tried Messiah, as you said it didn't look particularly fantastic upon release. Is MGS4 built on a custom Konami engine then? At the moment Unreal 3 and Cry 2 Engine are delivered the best graphics around, no?
messiah was very original and a good game by Shinny. It aimed at providing quality graphics even to users with not-so-powerful PC hardware. To achieve this, it allowed polygone models to be more complex as they are nearer the screen, and degrading as they get away. This led to some odd morphing issues for many, which has been criticized. How the is that like MGS4, a console game?
Konami did not say that. It was one of the guys on MGS who said something to a magazine which was miss represented as MGS had to sell 1 million on it's first day. He came back to clear that up as it was not something he said or ment for print. He also stated that no due to the way the game was done it WONT need to sell a million copies it's first week to be deemed profitable.
It would be nice if they came to 360, but it will be less of an issue with PS3 costs fall and the system is more affordable. Just like the last generation, many people will just buy all 3 systems and pick which version of what they would like.
Yeah, in 1 day sounds unlikely. I think it will sell that many full price though, which is what Konami require.
Why dont you read the whole post....? My point is that MGS4 was groundbreaking when it was first shown, but after 2 years it looks kinda outdated when compared to Crysis.
but..messiah WAS groundbreaking even when it was released, for other reasons. it just didn't shine if you had a low-spec PC, mr know-it-all.
We are talking about graphics What? were you blind or something back then? graphic-wise it wasnt that impressive, and the worst part is that the graphics were the best that game had, cuz the gameplay itself was boring to say the least... Every reviewer out there gave the game a 7, or 8 tops. Hows that for "groundbreaking"?
