http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/dd353205.aspx# Tip: Don't try to download it using Firefox...heh
We couldn't get the 64 bit edition working on my friend's i7 - the ASUS board was too new! It wouldn't find the SATA drives. The ASUS CD and the drivers on the website wouldn't work - so be careful if you're using a very new board and SATA!
I installed it 2 days ago and I find it the best windows evah. Much faster than XP and Vista (especially in the games department)
I just tried to upgrade from Vista64 but it failed while expanding the files. It didn't give me any reason, it just failed and that's it. Let's try to install it again...
I have a Compaq laptop running Vista 32 that I just reinstalled....I was going to check it out there....
Yeah I can't install the 32bit version (clean install) on my laptop either(Sony TZ31WN) for some reason. It wont expand the files. It stays on 0% and then shows an error message. Oh well, nothing wrong with XP so I'm not too bothered.
Downloaded it, installed it. It didn't detect my onboard NIC, and I couldn't be arsed to fuck around w/ it, so away it went. I use Windows like 5 minutes a week anyway.
After 3 hours I finally upgraded my Vista64 to Win7, and as far as I have seen there's no way I'll go back to Vista. Once installed is faster (anyway 3 hours is way too much for an installation...) and less resource eating, which is mostly visible in the games section. The only programs having issues I've had so far are Daemon Tools (it just won't get installed) and Firefox beta versions (they work fine but look a little weird). Not bad at all for a beta OS, I must say.
Downloading it now. Can't wait to try it. Although I have a Vista OEM license I have yet to activate, I will probably only use it on my WIP media server due to the media center, but as a main rig I might just wait for W7.
To everyone experiencing problems: it's a public beta for a reason - so you beta test it! If you have an issue installing, or if you can't find a driver, report it!
Yeah, for some reason you can't install daemon tool and alcohol 120% in this beta, but poweriso seems to work.
Has anyone used it with an SSD? I was going to throw a 64gb SSD in my Aspire One and try out 7 for reals (it's in a VM right now). I'm mainly wondering if it will detect it right off the bat or if I'm going to have to turn a bunch of shit off. If it doesn't work I can always revert back to Linux, but from what I can tell Windows 7 might actually perform better.
I wish I had a spare PC laying around to try it. Not willing to risk fucking my beautiful laptop up..
