Congrats to Spain! But i didn't liked the match. Too many fouls, violent fouls... What a dumb ass referee. Also, how many goal opportunities both teams lost!? At least it didn't went to penalty kicks. Spain, imo, deserved the win because they dominated the match. They keep the ball as many time as possible, and always make nice plays. By the way, congrats to South Africa. Apart from the vuvuzelas, it was a great event. The next one, in 2014, is right here in Brazil.
South African World Cup was unique. But I'm sad - next World Cup for 4 years. :/ Siyabonga iNingizimu Afrika.
Part of the game... and probably why North Americans hate the sport in general. It's such a pro-vaj sport.
Just got back from the final. Was it just me or has the whole world cup been terrible!? (and not just bcos I am an England fan!) Was lucky enough to go to two England games, a semi final (holland vs Uruguay) and the final but for me it just never got going. The atmosphere at the games was not what I was expecting too much noise and not enough singing!! Hardly any class in any games - Germany and Argentina were impressive at times, but more due to the opposition than themselves. All of the so called world stars badly underperformed! I am glad its over, and am looking forward to the Premier League starting again!!!
I disagree. Apart from Japan x Paraguay, all matches were exciting in some way. Some lacked talent players and quality teams, but had tons of emotion. We can discuss on lack of quality, but the main problem is that some teams only think on defense rather than try to win the match. Most of them know they don't have a chance, but are on the world cup. And Fifa is thinking of taking one spot from South America (Conmebol) to North America (Concacaf). Would you prefer Costa Rica instead of Chile? Canada instead of Uruguay. The world cup must have the best teams of the planet. South America and Europe can't lose spots. As for the world stars not playing what they know... Well, Cristiano Ronaldo and Robinho are more marketing than fantastic players. The are great players, but they need a great team with them as well. It wasn't Portugal or Brazil's case. Rooney had injuries, same with Kaka, Robben, Fabregas, Fernando Torres, ... Eto'o and Drogba do what they can, but their club teammates are way better than those on their national teams. I think it's great that we could see Müller and Özil, instead of Ballack for example. It was great to see Klose almost getting Ronaldo's 15 goal record. It was great to see how Spain plays, with David Villa, Xavi, Iniesta, Xabi Alonso. Sneidjer was great as well. The biggest problem is that the World Cup is right after the end of the european leagues. Most players are injuried, tired of the whole season,... Here in Brazil, the National Championship will restart this week. We had 9 rounds before the world cup, and now the championship will be back on track. And there's also Brazil's Cup final (Santos x Vitória ) and Libertadores da América semifinals and the big final.
They dislike because it can't keep their attention long enough. That, and not enough beer breaks in play ;-)
