The dash has the settings of course, but it does not physically display in 480p or higher.

the dash can be displayed in 480p too. if you press and hold both thumb sticks and both triggers and if you have the updated dash. That is perfect for progressive only setups.

    @Hexigon
about the postage, i don't know. i haven't sent an international mail for some time so i don't know much about how much it will cost. Though shoot me a pm if you are interested. i ask for 20$ for that thing plus whatever the shipping is. That is the cost i bought it. i was unaware that the xbox i bought would already include one.

Do you have to perform the opposite for NTSC xbox to play games in 50hz or 576i? We don't have those dashboard options.

i assume so. though there should be only a few cases where you have to do this. afaik most pal games support 480i PAL60 (or 480i NTSC if the dashboard is NTSC) and this mode is superior to PAL50 in most cases.

i read there are a few exceptions though. if i encounter them, i will just go back to PAL via enigmah and play it.

I used component cables on a CRT television for a long time. Never had a game display in a progressive format, that I know of - I only know this because after softmodding, I could manually set XBMC to a progressive display and the screen would go crazy, so I know my TV did not support a P mode. I never had a game cause this effect.

I have a huge box of these from microsoft, lmk if you still need one.

They are non-fcc pre-release so no idea if different in any way.

at the beginning some were "accidently" released although MS quickly realised the issue and recalled most of them from shelves.
I did hear people bought them but never verified so not sure whether anyone actually bought the one over the counter in PAL countries...

I actually went into a gamestop and got one for free. They throw away things that wont scan, And the manager scanned them out then gave them to me. Mind you to find things like that you have to call alot of stores ;)

Thanks for those who have offered. I'll keep you all in mind, and you'll hear from me at some stage. Just right now my system's PSU blew.

they must be sold in PAL region too. A lot of people around here have them. i doubt they all imported them from US or Japan. unfortunately they mostly use it for 480i, still better than composite though.

    EDIT:My bad, i meant 576i not 480i.

My TV bumps all my "HD" games to 576i. Even when in PAL mode. The XBOX is modified but it's odd for PAL.

oops sorry, i meant 576i. Though 480i is still possible for vanilla pal consoles via the pal60 option in the dashboard.

Anyways, how does your tv bump to 576i? i didn't understand that exactly. normally TV bumps whatever you input to its native resolution, 1080p for full hd tvs. TVs sold here have refresh rates multiples of 50 hz (50,100,200,400,800). in usa they have refresh rates multiple of 60 hz. so i still don't understand how my TV exactly handles 1080p@60hz. its panel refresh rate is
400 hz. it is dropping some frames and extrapolating then, or vice versa.

There are plenty on eBay. You could also get the second revision, which is a regular cable with optical rather than a box.

The Monster xbox cables are marginally better. But you have to get Monster's optical cable, because it comes with an adapter that you need to connect the TOSlink to the cable itself.

I don't mean to be rude or anything but if I found many on eBay, I wouldn't bother asking here at all.

I'm in Australia, many sellers on eBay DO NOT post these to Australia, I've asked many times and they all give me the same bullshit excuse.

I'm after official ones, not some crap 3rd party ones either, they are horrible. I understand you were trying to help, but it's not good enough for me to use.

2nd gen of official MS component cables
    http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-High-Def...65352287&sr=1-3&keywords=xbox+component+cable

    http://i43.tinypic.com/205s8qa.jpg

Available here...ships worldwide. Mislabeled, but if you look at the picture, it's obviously the same cable.
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/151022991982

    Another ships worldwide
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/Microsoft-X...t=Video_Games_Accessories&hash=item19dac43a25

And FYI, the Monster cables are not "crap 3rd party". They're overpriced as hell new, but they're quality cables.
