WTB PS3 TEST/DEBUG

Yes, someone's got a TEST PS3! YEEEEESSSSS! I really want to see it!

 

Strange that the guy wanted a retail one if it plays everything.
Or is it like the test ps2 without dvd movie capabilities ?

Correct, it doesn't play movies, thats why he wanted a retail.

It does seem a little strange, you can pick up a second hand ps3 for around 300 quid now. Not that I would pay that much for a test, let alone a retail console.

Though I might pick up a new slim one.

After having a play this morning I can confirm the following (but you must be running 1.80FW, otherwise basically nothing useful would run):

psx - cdr/dev - yes
psx - retail - yes
ps2 - dvdr master patched/dev - yes
ps2 - retail - yes
ps3 - dev - yes
ps3 - retail - yes
music cd's - yes
blu-ray films - no
dvd films - no

 

Thanks OE,man now I know what it can do I want one now.I would say no biggie on it not playing dvd films,it can for sure play mp4 files.Man I wish I had one,but its in good hands now and will be put to good use,you lucky dog:thumbsup:

 

What about the region protection for ps1/ps2 retails?

 

It plays any region games.

Yeah its similar to the other Sony hardware in that it doesnt play movies.
The same goes for a PSP test kit
It will play retail UMD's and test CD's but not read the media off a memory stick

 

Wouldnt want testers watching pr0n all day now would we

 

I believe the royalty payments for DVD/Bluray players are based on the retail price of the unit, therefore it would be ridiculously expensive to include.
