calling it horseshit is not respectful to horses and to shit (i like sealed games and items, but grading... eh...)
They get their money by planting the seed of doubt that if it's not graded, it's not "as good" of condition or authentic without it. Agreed with the above poster.
The grading is, and will always be, total bullshit. But their cases aren't half bad, I had a few custom made for rare games and they do good work.
From reading some of a thread on Nintendo Age, it sounds like this was a three way split purchase or something like that.
This is a verified first edition, sealed copy from the initial test markets. Whether or not it is worth it is subjective, but this is a, most likely, one of a kind item one of the most popular and more important games of its time that catalogs an important piece of gaming history.

Because of this news you will now see people selling Super Mario Bros. for 10.000 $ only the cartridge... This news should be deleted or banned... So much BS...
I shit you not, I wouldn't even pay 10 dollars for a copy of super Mario Bros. Its the most common game on the face of the planet.
These types of items are worth what people are willing to pay. The community needs to be sensible and stop paying over the mark for computer/ console related items. This is a rare version of the item and does demand a higher than normal price but not $100k. Even standard items are going for silly money, Atari Jaguars were selling for £20 a few years ago, now they go for £200+. The main issue is eBay inflating prices. We need a specific market platform for computer/ console related sales. This would hopefully allow for more sensible trading.
Again, people need to realize the historical significance of this, whether or not you think its worth the money. This is likely one of a kind, before the NES had its full launch in America. Sealed. For a version that shipped maybe thousands, for one of the most important games of all time. We may laugh at people paying millions for Action Comics #1, or baseball cards, or whatever the rare item may be, but this is one of those in my opinion.
Agreed on all of this. I just wanted to add even their non custom cases are great imho. UV protective and they are nice and sturdy. Also I'm seeing this sale already put the seed in peoples minds that they own something extremely valuable when in actuality they probably don't. Not knocking this sale or anything as it seems this may be a very rare case. Very cool to see either way.
