Just ordered one of N64 Freaks' reworked Trusty boards! So incredibly excited, as I missed out on the Friendtech models back in the day and never thought I'd be lucky enough to get one of these! Thanks for the awesome deal!
I'd actually be interested in one (or possibly several?) of these units, myself! I'd also be curious as to how Surreal 64 with Project 64 1.6 runs on it. Games like Mario Kart 64 generally work, but chug a bit with the limited RAM from what I've found (and freezes the console when in 720P)
Another update after quite some time! What would be the best cooling solution a 1,4ghz console could possible get? Correct watercooling...
Meh. Isn't water a bit half assed? How about liquid nitrogen instead? Looking forward to seeing the whole thing w/ radiator installed. Btw, your CPU looks like it's been lapped for a bit, but not finished, is that right? Could use a bit more work to really get that waterblock going.
The Heatsink has been built by a specialist so everything should be fine. The surface off the gpu does look a little rough but that's because off the photo. In reality it's fine! Once this first version off the heatsink proved to work well there will be a final version that can be ordered from the manufacturer directly. But first i need to know how good the heatsink really is!
This looks awesome. Still amazed to see the mods coming from the likes of yourself and Bennydiamond, keep up the good work!
Does the XBOX retain full compatibility when it is throttled to the lower speed? If so I'd be interested in one of these someday.
Oh damn, dude. You're my hero. haha Would this be going into a stock case? I'd guess not, but at this point I'm afraid to doubt you.
Oh man, what a lovely piece of art you made N64 freak! I hope you're prepared for quite a few orders worldwide!
Ok. So. How I do I order? Where do I order? What is the cost for shipping to Australia? What is the cost for motherboard 1.4ghz upgrade with 128mb ram? Additional is it still capable of playing Xbox games from the DVD and Hdd? Or am I to expect glitches and sync issues? Best Regards Georgie
Some games do run off because it isn't 100% the original clock rate. The BIOS n64_freak put onto my 1ghz modded XBox needs to be swapped out because I can't turn IGR off. With IGR on I can't start Steel Battalion as it interprets a button needed to get past the startup screen as a reset.
Does yours have the speed switch or is it always 1ghz? Are you patching your games so that they can use the CPU upgrade? About IGR: what bios are you currently using? Some of them (iND-BIOS for example) let you configure the bios to disable IGR without re-flashing. Flashing a new bios is pretty easy though. You might be able to use EvoX to flash a new bios. If not, the tool Hexen can be used for bios flashing. It's the easiest method I've found for flashing winbond chips.
1ghz and yes they're being patched but the speed issues are there for the 1.4ghz Dreamtech XBoxes that, afaik, use the same methods used here to downclock. I didn't transfer a single xbe without doing so. I don't know which BIOS specifically but I want to say it's a 4xxx revision X2, whatever n64_freak put on the TSOP. This one supposedly will read a config file first during boot but it doesn't seem to or I've done something wrong with the config file.
APE let me know if you get the SB to work properly. I really want one of these but I'd like to be able to play sb.
