Xbox classic problems with soft mod.

Hi Guys

I am wondering if someone can help me out here please.
Long story short, after installing coin ops emulator, the machine just went to black screen after MS splash screen. Didnt know what was wrong, and I think I accidentally removed MS back up from it, now when I try to re-install unleashX it tells me there is no valid MS back up and it cannot proceed with the installation.

Machine boots fine into the official MS dash.
I can also run the Auto Installer Deluxe Disc, but I dont know how to re-install unleashX and start from the beginning.

Is there a way to FTP official MS dash onto the console and then run the installer again? When I run the AID disc, I can go to network option, change IP from static to DHCP, then connect with Filezilla, but when I click on the C partition, it says failed to retrive directory.

Just want to get this console up and running again, and would like to prevent messing it up even more.

 

I've only recently modded my Xbox so very new to this, I have a Backup folder on the E partition with another folder inside called MS. Not sure but could be worth checking if you have one there as well.
Do you remember creating a backup when you softmoded your Xbox?

 

Use Rocky5's, softmod install kit that will let you re-install everything

 

You can't see your C partition because it's shadowed

Thanks for your replies.

I managed to install MS files with AID, and then re-install the mod.
It worked this way, and now it all works fine again.
For a moment there, I thought I had bricked it.

You can't brick an Xbox by softmod.

 

Bet I could brick it

 

I would start fresh. if you have your eeprom backed up. I would rebuild the HD to stock.. Then resoftmod it..

 

I bet you I could render it inoperable to the point of needing a modchip to fix it. XBox chips are so cheap these days too unless you wanna do something fancy like install a LCD.

 

The issue you had is due to FileZilla & usually unleashx (builds after 570)

For some reason FileZilla can't determine the directory encoding or something & you end up with what you had, dates & time.

You can in the remote site bar type C, E or F eg... & gain access to the partitions.

Or use another FTP application.


It's also random when it starts arsing up, I had no issues for months & then it started.
(Changed to FlashFXP & never looked back)
