this is the biggest pile of shit to date. why the fuck is bing on there it didnt make anything easier since the ability to efficiently navigate the dashboard just became ten thousand times more fucking difficult. whoever the fuck designed this shit needs a severe beating. the entire indie games section is fucked...i cant separate the demos from the games i own. and you cant sort by letters of the alphabet you have to scroll through 2000 plus games. there should be one fucking section and it should be called games, and you should be able to navigate that mother fucker in a way that makes fucking sense. not all these fucking small boxes of varying sizes where you dont know if what youre clicking on is an advertisement or a function of the fucking system. i tried finding the game cursed loot, i wanted to buy it. just finding the indie games section took some effort. and then i didnt want to scroll through all that shit so i try the search function i see the name pop up in a drop down menu but i cant get it to show me the fucking results because of a filter i dont know how to change. im tired of being dicked around by shity fucking companies that waste my fucking time with bullshit because they care more about profit than function. im done ranting, and im done spending any more money on xbox, microsoft, whatever. fuck it. blar.
I"m with you on this shit. What makes it worse is that if you don't upgrade then you can't use XBOX Live! I hate the new layout. The whole box thing is fucking annoying plus like you said it's hard to know what is a game link and what is an add. then there's trying to find stuff. What a bloody hassle that is. Microsoft better fix this shit ASAP. I can see many people being pissed off about this update. There is one good point though, we now have Hulu in Japan! Yeah!! I signed up and watched Friends in HD. But I don't like seeing facebook shit on my 360. I want that crap removed or at least removed from my view. Also, I hate all this social bollocks being shoved down my throat. Why can't we upgrade and choose the theme we want? Yakumo
I personally really like it, I hated the old one with all the adds everywhere, now I can easily browse my downloaded games and they have a very nice cover artwork, it looks very nice. The other tabs i am rarely if ever going to use so I could care less. My only complaint would be that i'd love to have the ability to have netflix right on the home page, I'm too lazy to scroll over 4 tabs.
I'm with you man the only thing I don't like is the lay out of the games you own and that it does not divide arcade games from other games. I trust they will fix that in time. I like the new layout because it is simple
I just want my original Blades back.... I swear, it seems like they made it more difficult to navigate with every dash update. What was so hard about the original dash (besides its lagginess)? & Themes actually worked with the Blade dashboard. The new dashboard looks clean, but its a bitch to navigate due to poor placement. & There should be toggles to hide shit that I don't care about or frequently use. Like on the previous dash with the "Hide Welcome Tab", why wasnt their toggles for everything? I would have toggled it all off and just kept my games tab.
I found it extremely hard to navigate. The covers on the games, I agree with Eva and Hardcore, look fucking awesome. But the game library is a PAIN to find and to navigate once found. I see more negative than positive on this one. It does look pretty, but man, it's a shitload of fuck in terms of usability and finding stuff, either your stuff, or stuff to buy.
i haven't updated yet, but i'm kinda scared to... i love the tiles on my Windows7 phone though. But using the controller to navigate them seems like more of a chore than just touch controls.
I like what they've done. This is Microsoft's way of testing out the proposed Windows 8 interface (similar to the tile system on the Windows Phone platform). It looks clean and organized. Obviously there will be tweaks made, but so far this is a great start. Of course there will always be whiners and complainers, but you can't please everyone.
It looks like Windows 8. Personally, it is better than the old one because it had ads EVERYWHERE. Then again, the best one is the original dashboard with the blades, and the guide on the left.
Ok I give up WHERE THE HELL ARE INDIE GAMES? I can search for them but there doesn't seem to be a hub for them either. I've been messing with the new dash for close to an hour and still have no clue
In Japan we never had the adds problem. I know what you guys mean about the adds though since I sometimes used the UK Live store to get stuff not released in Japan but for me, 90% of the time adds weren't an issue. I do really dislike this new set up. The squares on a windows 7 phone work well but on this dash they're annoying to use with the pad and kinect. Too many places to move to to find anything. Yakumo
OK I found Indy games thanks to Major Nelson it was so obvious no wonder I didn't find it. Now the fun little indie games can still be enjoyed.
Lying Larry actually helped you find the indie games section? For everyone else, you have to go in through "Game Types". And don't expect to be able to do anything other than look at a single 2100+ game list...
not a great fan of the new layout, had a couple of seconds to check it out last night but what really fucked me off was the announcement of the On-Demand channels (4 + 5) and the internet browser, what do i find when i look for them, they are listed as: "Coming this Winter" it is Winter you fucking numpties!
I never heard of him before he became an official MS spokesperson many years ago (supposedly he was better respected then), but everything since has been nothing but corporate shilling. Granted, that IS his job, but he (or his writers) messes up all of the time. Little comments, such as the new releases list showing you everything in the game marketplace that is new (it doesn't include Indie games, therefore it is an untrue statement) just piss me off.
Well, I've been playing around with it this week, and to be honest I don't mind it too much. Sure, I have a bit of a gripe that the tv apps in the UK are still 'coming soon' (although it's always said in press releases that they're coming later this month, so I shouldn't be too surprised) and that there's a bit of 'shock of the new', but I think it's perfectly fine and whilst it is different, I think it's OK. I don't think my other half agrees though. Her instant response was 'what the hell?'.
I installed it, and noticed a really annoying bug with the scrolling on the account select screen. When you move left or right, the screen doesn't scroll with you, and only scrolls at all when you hit the edge. The annoying part is that it will then "jump" about three quarters of the way across the screen instead of scrolling continuously. I don't know if anyone else has this problem (I'm guessing most people don't have as many profiles on their 360 as I do), but it's driving me nuts.
