Please take your blind devotion somewhere else and BTW getting that disk in your system is not a good thing ^__^

Well one for the Xbox 360 had a Forza track, its just supposed stress out the system to braking point iirc
make sure that batch is within standards

Having evidence your system has been thoroughly tested is not a good thing?

I guess that's because the CPU and GPU have been pushed to their limits and the console has practically been cooked by Microsoft?

Would you rather that not happen and you only find out in 13 months time when more complex Games come out and you are out of warranty

For sure that's true, although I'd imagine it's not great having your system pushed harder than it needs to go for the sake of a test that should apply to all XBO consoles. It's a good thing and a bad thing in many ways, at least the owner got a collectable disc out of it I guess.

Running it at 100% is no harder than its designed to do. Else that speed wouldnt be the max, it would be lower.

Yep, this. The idea is to quickly find a fault using a standard application that will run the same every time, and push the console the same every time. A game doesn't necessarily do that and isn't consistent enough. If it operates at the maximum capabilities of the console, then it will operate at everything else.

    This statement makes no sense.

I would take a system that I knew was 100% tested over an unknown ANY day.

The whole point of a stress test is to ensure that the hardware performs at 100% within all tolerances.

You are much more likely to have a failure on an untested unit than a tested one.

Ahh awesome! :) is it possible if you can make a quick video on running this MTE Xbox 360 disc on the Xbox 360 system? but just only send the recording as a MP4 file to my PM please, as i wouldn't want to get you into deep trouble by Microsoft via YouTube :) also Thanks alot man!

I find it funny that people do believe their brand new systems have never been powered on before. Super funny !

Each console is burn-in tested for at least 12 hours before it even get assigned an Serial number... ;)

What does the disc do apart from stress the system out? Does it play animations or what?

I bought one off someone on ebay. It will not play in an Xbox One. That is known. I tried this in an Xbox 360 Development Kit. It too will not play since it's compiled as a retail disc. In a pc it only shows up TS Video file and TS Audio file. In a retail 360 it shows as a "mixed media disc". However by going under system players such as music, picture viewer and video it has some pretty interesting stuff on it. Under video there are short videos of sceneries. Under music there is random sound effects and non-licensed muzak type tracks. Under pictures there are random scenery pics, xbox developers working, city skylines, etc. There is so much stuff here I haven't began to explore 1/5 of it.

I stress test 360s I repair by sticking a graphically demanding game (usually GoW 2) in and jamming the look stick to 3 o'clock, thus making the gpu redraw constantly, ileave the unit running like this for an hour+

On the original Xbox, the disk used to initialize the system was signed as region 0x80000000. The BIOS assigns region 0x80000000 to systems with a corrupted (including blank) EEPROM. The initializer disk would phone home to a LAN server to get the serial number and keys, write it to EEPROM, lock the hard drive with that key, and download the Dashboard from the LAN. Writing the EEPROM also causes the system to have a real region code, so once this happens, the system will no longer run this initialization disk.

Based on a change I saw in later kernels, I think they ran into a problem at repair facilities. This is an educated guess from that evidence. In the original retail kernel, 3944, only when the system was region 0x80000000 was booting allowed to continue with an unlocked hard drive. If they got a system with a dead hard drive in for repair, how could they fix it? Putting a new hard drive in wouldn't work, because the system wouldn't boot with an unlocked drive, even to run some internal tool. They'd either have to clear EEPROM somehow or lock the drive with that system's key before connecting it. The latter is possible; Microsoft had a list of every Xbox's hard drive key.

Later kernels, possible even the immediate successor 4034, added a media type bit to correct this, 0x40000000. XBE files with this media type bit set are allowed to boot even when the hard drive is unlocked. This would allow a repair disk to be made for their facilities that phones home to their LAN to format the drive, download the Dashboard, and format the drive.

I suspect that somewhere out there is a Microsoft internal disk for the original Xbox whose XBE has region codes 0x80000007 (all regions + manufacturing) and media types 0x40000002 (Xbox standard hologram disk + allow boot when hard drive is unlocked).

It's not technically a retail disc. Any console it goes into will read it as a "mixed media disc", and why? Read on.....

I successfully dumped this disc via Xbox Neighborhood with a devkit nand on an RGH..... NOT A SINGLE XEX on the disc? Whatever USB dongle other people offsite and here have mentioned that needs to be connected to the console must have the executable files. There are game files for Geometry Wars, but not any xex or exe files to boot any of them. Included were several random audio files and jpg pics of really random stuff.

My question is this: If I am correct, and the executable files are on this "USB testing dongle" and there are game files requiring (to our knowledge) at least one xex files to boot the games; then why/how could this work on an Xbox One?

My theory, the Xbox One is/will be backward compatible via app. Some sort of xex emulator that would come in a download. More than likely several years from now when the 360 finally dies. But that's my theory, app based emulation through a download on the Xbox Marketplace.
