No, but I would not recommend removing the sidecar just to test the kit. I'm begging you, please just buy a 213w off eBay for £10 and call it good without ripping into a kit in which even the likes of me or someone like me would have a hard time and not damage the sidecar. They are notorious for their clips breaking when you attempt to open an xdk with one.

Yes. This is normal. All phat sidecars say Xenon on their boards all the way up to Jasper kits.

okay thanks surgeon, you seem very knowledgeable on these boxes and im starting to think maybe im just gonna ruin this thing for a true collector if i modify it and then get bored with it in a months time. would it be worth anything to anyone in the uk without the power supply?

I think this is a very smart move. I kept most of my kits the same (except one of my original Xbox kits). I personally wouldn't open a sidecar regardless of its condition (unless it was completely destroyed lol) because I would be afraid to damage it. But that's just me.

If you're looking to get rid of it and clear some space, PM me :). I like to collect Xbox 360 stuff, and I've already got a devkit but I'd love to own another. Can't offer much tho, but it's still a fair amount and from what you've posted above it doesn't seem like you've invested too much into it (found it in a skip ;))

    Cheers!

I'm already speaking with him mate but if we don't make a deal, I'm sure he will be all yours. He's in the UK as well, from what I recall, you are from the US aren't you? My bad if you're not.

Afraid not aha, UK as well :)

Let me know if it doesn't go through, it'd be nice to have another devkit, as I've only got one atm and I'm terrified I accidentally brick it xD

This here is what you should do.
Buy a 213w PSU and dont try removing the sidecar.

I've managed not to break any clips on my sidecar but never do I want to deal with removing it fully again.

I hope you find a PSU. Those make things just that much easier.

I've had horrible luck with keeping a sidecar in good condition while taking it apart, i just don't have the steady hands.
There's a few up on chinese websites, i couldn't find any on ebay. I tried a few search quires.
Good luck! anything else i'd imagine it's a hardware issue somewhere along the xbox or sidecar.
