I wonder what makes you think so, as far as i can see from the images the adapter is set right into the "GD Rom Connector" so it should be at least as fast as a GDROM i guess even much faster thinking about transfer speed of an ATA CDROM compared to an ATA HDD, so it should be fast enought to run all games, the SD MOD was / is so slow because it's done trought the serial port of the DC which i guess is "slow" in it's natural limits! Hope i got it all right please correct me if i'm talking bs ;-)

I don't really get it, you weren't allowed posting a guide how to buy in generell or especially the one of this "Secret *gg*" site ???
The domain buyfromblabla.com is for sale, so no luck on that, quick google searched i found an up to date "how to buy from there" ... It is written in German but if some interested and it's ok to post i share the link or might translate the important points for everyone who needs it ? Just let me know, if your google is not giving you any good results pm me i send you the link then.

I guess finishing my Bios Mod next days i hope, i will give this a shot and try to order one of these! I'll keep you definetly updated on that happening ...
    Have a nice Weekend ....

No, I posted the original guide on a warez site which is not allowed to be mentioned here. I am pretty sure if you think hard enough you can figure it out but it is not allowed to be spoken about here so I will say it is best to just leave it at that.

That looks hot. Is this an upcoming product that someone is producing?

It seems to me like the Brazilian guys that run that facebook page do mods. I know I have seen some of the moderators that post on there do Dreamcast mods over the years, and I suppose that they are making the same device for Brazilian customers, but I doubt they will sell them internationally. Shipping from Brazil to other countries cost a lot of money for them unfortunately.

Let me find you their main site and some youtube links.

And more pictures on Dreamshell site.

Hmm I wonder if they're tapping into the GDRom pcb where the connector comes in or there might be some test points on it similar to the DC motherboard.

There are pads on the GD-ROM board which can be used for the G1-ATA mod, someone at DCSwat forum had mapped them years ago (post #311):

I had a chat in a thread about these on a dreamcast Facebook group. It's doesn't appear to be a product anyone is making. They are simply mounting the hd and cf internally using the same g1 ata points on the bottom of the board instead of the traditional external solutions. It's actually a great idea since we can tap the 5v to power the 44 pin drive or cf reader internally.

Now the op boards from taobao are different.

    That's it.

Personally I still prefer make G1-ATA mods keeping an working GD-ROM drive, since there are a good amount of games which only work from disc drive.

I posted on that video above asking him if he will sell it internationally and he said yes. I was thinking it would be hard to ship from Brazil but I guess he is confident there will be no issues. I asked for word on a price, haven't gotten a reply just yet.

Edit: Maybe we need somebody to ask him in Portuguese how much for just the GDRom replacement board. I understand I need a dual bios for it but I don't think he understands what I am asking. I guess maybe he is trying to make me aware of the fact that it requires a bios mod to function. I just want to know how much.

I ordered and received and adaptator from XCKDIY.

I have only for the moment, a 120Go 4200rpm ide hdd.

I've tested 2 games, (Capcom VS SNK 2 and Sonic Adventure) and both are lagging.

Do you think if i order a 5400 rpm hdd, it will solve this ?

Thanks for posting clear photos of the back of the board. I was curious about them.

Quality looks fine to me. They are just hand soldered (and a missing resistor added). End of the day, its just a PCB with 2 headers and a oscillator on it.

Yeah, and the ones from Brazil will cost between 150 and 200 Reals, aka $42.25 - $56.34. Looks like the Chinese one might be better in the long run seeing as how they are only like $20 something for the IDE Plate.

From that video above I posted...

For $20 that's not bad, the size of that pcb to get manufactured would be pricier than the small board mods.

Yeah seeing how the other guys are creating them largely by hand. The Chinese ones albeit simpler, seem like they would make the most sense. Even though there isn't much to them it is nice to have a limited run of custom PCB's.
