At least I decided to buy after 10 years my second Dreamcast console (first and my last I bought brand new at 2004 and sold it in 2006 after laser stop reading game discs). But now I can see we can do with it much more than 10 years ago. Option to add HDD make me even more encouraged to buy this console and back to the past to best years of gaming!

This one is amazing but I wish one woukd be made that had a QSB thst woukd still retain the GD-ROM units while keeping the G1 ATA mod.

Actually, I am pretty sure this QSB version will allow you to keep the drive for playing disc games. All you have to do is run Dreamshell from the disc like normal. The only difference is this will stick out the back of your Dreamcast at a certain spot so you need to cut a hole there. At least that is what it looks like to me.

    That's correct.

    ---

I contacted the developer via email and he said the product is under control quality tests and should be available for sale soon.
I asked him about the estimated price and at least for us Brazilians will be a little high (R$200,00 plus shipping). For outside Brazil, due to difference of currency value, maybe will be more affordable (it will be around U$50,00 + shipping, I guess).

That mod is very reminiscent of the mod I was working on with a ribbon out to an external board. Atleast they finished it and since they did if anyone wants the Eagle library for the part which is basically the Test Points and their exact placement I guess I can post it here so someone can make something similar for cheaper.

So much competition in the Dreamcast IDE space right now. Really good thing for end users. I prefer this anyways vs the ODE emulators since this has a full OS and tons of apps. I can handle waiting for 99% compatibility for all the nice features Dreamshell adds.

There really only is one IDE mod. The competition is for who can figure out the slickest way to install it without a mess of wires, extra adapters, and ugly large case cuts. I'm happy to wait for someone to make that ultimate kit that satisfies all these needs.

You know what I meant, the adapters and methods people are selling to make installing easier for people not skilled with soldering 42 pins to a motherboard. This is one of the most technical mods to do by yourself, so all the quick solder boards, IDE plates and connectors out there that make it easier for end users are really a great thing.

I'll just wait for bad_ad's tbh, at least his is going to have useful features other than connecting a drive to the console
