Wow, nice one gaijinpunch! I have been watching some super-plays and the final pattern looks insane, most players seem to just shield it to the end. Makes the first espgaluda look easy thats for sure. (which I can 1cc as long as luck is on my side for the final pattern) I'm trying to one cc mushihime at the moment, always choke on the true final boss. I haven't even thought about scoring on mushihime yet.
All 3 of those games are running on Naomi hardware. The real shitter is that ESPgaluda won't be coming to the DC but the PS2 :crying: sickening really. Yakumo
Hmm do you think espgaluda II can run on the ps2? Looking at it, it looks far too good to run on the ps2 if they have had to greatly reduce the graphics for mushihime. If they cut out lots of the great animation, lower the frame rate, slow certain sections down even more, reduce the resolution, etc maybe it would work. But that sounds pretty poor to me. I would rather they stuck it on the ps3 or even (shudder) the 360 - it is getting senko after all.
Whoa billy! slow the feck off! (no pun intended, I always wanted to say that shit:lol I don't use to download games but the problem here is that I dont even know the game and spending 80 bucks with my eyes closed is kinda harsh you kno?
Final pattern is rough. The guard barrier does not work on the final pattern. Unlike the first one though, it doesn't give him energy back. This time, however, kakusei mode DOES work on the last boss which really helps, especially w/ Asagi (over in seconds). GL w/ Mushi. I 1CC'ed original mode, which I hated. I didn't put that much time into Maniac. I hate the scoring system -- Cave's worst by far. The graphics/sprites for Mushi aren't cut at all, although it's displayed in a scaled resolution (which makes it look bad). They did a really poor job emulating the slowdown as well -- something Arika fought very hard for in the DOJ and ESPGaluda ports --- perhaps the best arcade ports of any game running on non-related hardware. Cave has never put out anything on Naomi. ESPGaluda II runs on the same hardware as Ibara and Mushihime-sama, which is Cave's SH3. A very tiny PCB. As such, PS2 is the natural choice for it's port (which isn't announced yet -- and won't be for some time if it does come out) as the two previous SH3 games are on the PS2, or will be within the next 30 days. EDIT: SH3 pic
Cool. I'll try it again, just for the sake of it. Maybe i can make the damn arcade respect me  :rambo: If i can't do that, maybe i'll have to try the PS2 port of the first one?
ESPGaluda II? It retailed for about 240,000 yen, and you can now find it for around 180,000 yen if you're lucky.
I have a problem buying printed materials of Cave games right now. I'll be posting them in the collections pics soon. Seems everyone wants them though.
Under Defeat is really tempting right now. Granted the DC was never my favorite console, but damn, that game just looks fantastic! Yakumo, are you still accepting pre-orders?
Hehehe, you mean like the mousepad sitting on my desk this very moment? The Borderdown limited edition was one of the best LE sets I've ever purchased - the mousepad is spiffy, but the OST is just amazing as well. For some reason, I always get a nostalgic, Gradius-esque feeling listening to the tunes. It's infuriating, isn't it, how some people believe they are entitled to others' hard work for free. We work at our jobs to save a few measly bucks here and there for the must-have gaming item of our choice, but some feel they are above the time-honored tradition of working for things they want and so demand that everything be provided to them on a silver platter. It never ceases to amaze me that individuals who claim to not have enough money still somehow feel entitled to games they didn't pay for. I'm not sure how this asinine logic plays out in the real world; I certainly have never been able to make any sense out of it.
I bought one too, although I'm not exactly sure where the hell I put that mousepad (although it's definitely somewhere in my house). Not like I'm going to sell it or anything. Great game, although it's REALLY hard to play this properly after playing so many micro-hitbox games.
It's certainly part of the Gradius/R-Type/Darius school of shooters that emphasize tougher enemies and 'just stay the hell away' battle tactics as opposed to the Cave style of popcorn enemies and 'Hmm, how close could I possibly get before it registers as a hit?' gameplay. For the record, I love both equally.
