I was sorting out my game cupboard today so I thought I'd take a shot of my Wii games. I would have more than this but I sold the ones I couldn't be bothered with. About 6 or 7 titles I must have sold. Still even with them my collection is pretty sad :crying: Still, I love every game I have for the Wii, well maybe apart from Transformers The Movie and Pirates of the Caribbean. Just how many Nintendo I.P.'s can you see? Excite Trucks doesn't count by the way since Nintendo didn't make it.:110: Yakumo
Where's Mario Galaxy?? That's my favorite game for the Wii right now. I want to play No More Heroes but just haven't gotten a chance. Mario Kart. 1 more day.
Nice collection. I agree that Super Mario Galaxy is a great game, if a bit on the easy side. You should check out Brawl, too; the Subspace Emissary mode has a real old-school platformer feel to it. BTW, I'm writing this on a Wii. Incidentally, you ought to consider reviewing Wii games on Retro Core. Sure, they're not retro, but it would be nice for those of us who don't have easy access to Japanese Wii games.
I heard many great things about Mario Galaxy but I just can't get in to Mario any more. I'm just put off. Don't know why but I just find the character annoying the last few years. Maybe one day I'll get back in to Mario based games. I was toying with Mario Kart on the Wii but then all the memories of F*ing cheating AI from the N64 and DS games came flooding back. Somehow I can't see the Wii version being any different. I may just do that. I'll use the excuse that everyone says that the Wii is just a GameCube  Although I seriously doubt a GameCube could pull off Lego Star Wars. Some of the textures in that are very nice! It's basically the Saturn / PlayStation game with a new lick of paint. Now the game is fully voice driven unlike the original plus there are some very nice new cut scenes. Over all if you liked the original you'll like this. If you're lucky you may also get the Baroque art book with the game. Yep, you can't go wrong with a bit of Densha De Go. Yakumo
never knew there was a PSX/Saturn version - do those versions have any ole'school charm to them? (thinking of the Saturn version more hehe)
I loved the Saturn version very much. You can see a video of it on my site. Here's a direct link - http://www.segagagadomain.com/movie-pages/baroque.htm Yakumo
You should definately get Mario Kart. It is a superb game. Yes, there is still the catch-up thing, but it doesn't detract too much. There are quite a few good games on the Wii. I'm guessing you have Wii Sports with the console. Wii Play is good, Warioware is very funny, Raving Rabbids is good, Eledes is quite fun. Mario Party is good with friends, but boring vs. computer. Oh, and if you don't have a 360, Guitar Hero! By the way, what are the A, B, C, D markings on the bottom left of the games?
@retro: Wii sports wasnt bundled with the console in Japan, where the Wii's price is about 200USD instead of 250. Mariokart is a must, Mario Galaxy is a must as well. And for the record, Resident Evil 4: Wii edition is the best version of the game - the IR remote enhances the game so much that I m kind of bummed that RE5 will have standard controller controls :| @:Yakumo: Does the Wii version hold a candle to the Saturn version in terms of music and gameplay? I am aware that you get the choice for 1st and 3rd person perspective yet the Saturn version offers a more ambient music. Also, how do you control stuff on the Wii version? (which configuration) Overall, which version would you recommend for someone who isn't a huge RPG fan like myself?
Hmm, well I may just get it then. I have 3700 yen worth of points for Yamada Denki and the game only cost 5800 yen or so so I could get it cheap. I would get Guitar Heroes but it's not released in Japan for Wii Yep, that's right. The highest is Z but no Wii games in Japan have that rating yet. They should have made No More Heroes a Z so we could have had all the blood rather than the black stuff. Z is sort of a 18+ while D is a 15 I guess. I did have that game. I posted pictures of it here but I ended up selling it because to be honest is was pretty crap plus the audio is in mono ! The Dreamcast Shikigami No Shiro II is a far better game. Hmm, I'd say that the Wii version has a lot more music in it so probably better overall. As for which version, hmm.... That's hard. I'd probably go with the Saturn if you like a darker feel to your games however the Wii version does have full on speech so it is easier to play if you can understand Japanese but can't read it. Also the Wii version is a bit easier to control but not by a great deal. I use the classic controller to play the Wii version however the standard set up is to use the numbchuck to move and the remote to look from what I remember. Yakumo
Except maybe own a better console to play it on, say a Playstation 2 or if you want to play the latter games then a Playstation 3 (60GB version). That way you have a whole collection of Densha games to play rather then the er one. The same could be said for Metal Slug, DDR and a few others there... [/rant]
Guitar Hero is OK, but I think you ll pump out more fun with Mariokart, especially considering its online component. The single player game is on the unfair and cheating side, as usual, but it can be rewarding - this is no F-zero when it comes to skills but you can't beat it when playing with 4 or more players! D is 16, since No More Heroes in PAL-country is 16+rated. I love my US/NTSC version, 18+, blood, and full foul language - an awesome experience and obviously based on the movie El Topo (go get it now.)
Have you played NFS Pro Street, and I mean really played it? I have no idea about the PS3 version but the Wii one is actually very good! Don't listen to what those idiots at IGN wrote. Once you get a bit of money and tune up your car it's a very good racer with some of the best Wii remote controls yet. GTA4... yeah, no thanks. Not going to buy a PS3 ever. Now a 360 I will if they can fix them from blowing up every 3 months. Yakumo
360's aren't actually as bad as they used to be thank god. I'm noticing the number of returned units drop, most returns now are all the crappy old models. You're missing out on a great console! Just make sure you get a 175W model. Still, there's now a 3 year warrenty covering the red ring of death, that should be the same in Japan I'd assume,.
Hey Yakumo, that game with the 2 girls on it (one with a cowboy hat) I think I saw a video for it a while back about like killing zombies or something? How is that game and whats the title of it?
