I played online yesterday for an hour. Most players were from Japan but there were a few European and US players online too. I like the way it give the option of playing just your own countrymen or worldwide. Maybe we should arrange an ASSEMbler Mario Kart battle using the friend numbers. Yakumo
Yeah, I played with people from all over for a few rounds. It's fun. I like the wheel, but I haven't played much. The only thing bugging me about this game is the charectar models, especially after playing Galaxy, but eh, it's fine. On my second match I put my controller down while it loaded the match and went in the bathroom....forgot it loads fast, and got 8th place with Wario. =(
Well, my verdict is this. Mario Kart is good fun on-line but pretty annoying as a 1 player game. As for Mario Galaxy, well..... Looks pretty but I just can't get in to it. The story pisses me off as well. Platform action games don't need a running story and if they do it should be played out, not told in my opinion. To be very honest I had a hell of a lot more fun with Lego Star Wars Complete than Mario Galaxy:-( . Yakumo
Lego star wars isn't exactly platforming - it's a kid's version of God Of War! Mario Galaxy is geared towards the conoisseur platforming/acrobatics gamer who just doesn't enjoy the scripted and automated acrobatics of games, such as Prince of Persia, as much. Give it time Yakumo, and you might actually find some gold in there! ( I hope!)
Still no Super Mario World. I played Mario Galaxy and I found it quite dull and as Yakumo says far too much story. What happened to Yoshi telling you he was out or something and not much else...
you can't compare 2D sidescrolling games with 3D ones. The comparison is subjective and boils down to taste. What you can compare it to is Mario64 and Sunshine, as well as countless other 3D platformers.
Well, I gave it 3 hours yesterday and was going to give it more time today but the baby wouldn't go to sleep so there goes the gaming and the nucky out the window (AGAIN!). Tomorrow I have to sleep early because we're going to Kagoshima by car (take F*ing 6 hours or more) from 5am. Back in the UK a holiday meant you relax but in Japan they don't understand the meaning of that word so to them a holiday mean stress yourself until you burst a vain. Yakumo
