http://www.ps3news.com/PlayStation-...ation-3-is-coming-to-us-and-european-markets/ File this under Finally. I know they complained about the poor sales of the ps2 version, but with the PS3 lacking in titles and this game selling out in Japan when released, you would think this would have been a no-brainer for a US release. At least its happening and I can't wait. They showcased the Yakuza 4 trailer at TGS, which looks insanely good. They only showed cut scenes but it looks like a big graphical update over 3.
they should make one just of rhte wii then. 3rd party console exclusives are out dated and only lazy developers do them
Uh, no. Only developers that like to wrap a game around hardware and not dumb it down with middleware do them.
Exactly. So youd have them spend money porting & translating it to the 360 for potentially poor sales and lose a ton, or just spend money translating for an already-finished PS3 version and lose less money if thats the case. Its a big enough gamble as it is, Sega is staying smart with this one.
Although I think it's cool and all that we might be seeing Yakuza 3 in English... I have to say that I, after the second game, raised the "WTF!? Talk about milking!"-flag after the announcements of the two following games (Whatever the 3rd title was called and the 3rd numbered one) And the flag is now even higher (and waving more furiously than ever) after the 4th numbered game was revealed. I mean, seriously, Sega, the first installment of the franchise came out less than 4 years ago, and there's already 4 games out in the franchise and a 5th one (nr. 4) announced? Anyway, with the rumors of PS2 software emulation becoming reality for the PS3, I guess Yakuza 3 + a Yakuza 1-2 HD disc would be a nice combo (and I guess some people would be all over it if they re-touched Yakuza 1 to have the original Japanese audio track)
It's doing mega drive numbers far from a flop Hardware wise and easy of use 360> PS3 simple fact they want it to sell in the US...360 is the way to go PS3 exclusive owners are graphics whores and complete morons they wont care about Yakuza they just want more resistance or a half assed 360 port with a some extra thing tack on to appease sony
LOL who said I was a fanboy? ok walk into a Gamestop and talk to somebody who only owns a PS3 I'll accept your apology in the morning. I've yet to meet a single person who only has a PS3 that wasn't an elitist jerk. Also of those people none of them had the awesome PS3 games like Little Big Planet. Everyone knows Sony is the Best first party developer....cept the Sony Fanboys.
First off, Sega didnt care about the US when the made Yakuza 3, so they catered to the HD crowd that would be most interested in Japan : the PS3 folk. And factor in that the game is already complete, and it's a no brainer. And again with the fanboy talk. Just branch out from the people you talk to online and in real life, plenty of the PS3 owners that I talk to absolutely realize the flaws in Sony, and plenty of people realize the flaws in the 360 for that matter. Don't judge by the posts people make on the Internet, or a dozen people you have met when millions have bought the PS3.
I'm going by the whole picture not just online. But I'm pretty short it's a quick port from PS3 to 360. Square did it and if they can anyone can.
Your whole picture is apparently people at Gamestop though. Final Fantasy XIII has probably been in development as long as the entire Yakuza series, huge difference
Japan has an HD crowd? (I thought this was like one of the big struggles the HD consoles faced in Japan, along with the facts that they were expensive, HD sets are expensive and large, and hardly anyone cared about HD graphics... unless it for some reason made their fonts unreadable on puny SD screens :lol Anyway, half-joking aside; GodofHardcore kinda is onto something with his "PS3 Graphics Whore" comment... I find it somewhat oddly noticeable and creepy how PS3 "fanboys[1]" have a bad habit of using terms such as "PS3 Graphics" when referring to some sort of hypothetical visual aspect they'd like to see in games they want. And, well, I've yet to see the PS3 really "wow" me in any way that warrants a term such as "PS3 Graphics[2]". The few really visually stunning titles have had the benefit of being a console exclusives, featuring the work of some of the finest talent in the industry, running on engines specifically tailored for the hardware, and some also with a dev time that almost makes Duke Nukem Forever's dev cycle seem forgivable. ([1]let's not just simply call them "owners", as that'd make it seem like it was an achievement to acquire and own the console + wrongly put people into a group they don't belong to) ([2]rather the contrary... unless we're looking at it as a negative thing; such as for describing ports with visual shortcomings.) As for the subject of porting to 360 from PS3, most developers that've spoken up on the subject have indicated that it's more or less a cakewalk (while doing it the other way around is slightly more complicated). Of course, it still requires sufficient resources and time... but it's not complicated. As for PS3/360 multi stuff... Capcom titles have had the benefit of MT Framework being a proper multi-platform capable engine, while Square-Enix has their Crystal Tools (or whatever they're called). So cross-platform development for some of their games doesn't require too much extra effort, as the foundation itself is already completed.
