Alright, I've seen enough pointless system bashing in just about every X360/PS3/Wii thread. People have preferences and others just like being fanboys.

How about an experiment: pick your ONE favorite console of all time and tell us why in one post. If you change your mind in the future, then just edit your post.

That's it. No discussion, no commenting, no arguments and absolutely NO bashing any other systems or posters.

That's a really tough one, I would be between the SNES and N64, both great systems, excelent games (of course there's loads of crappy games, but that happens almost with every console), but I guess I'd choose the N64 taking into account the endless hours I spent playing with friends and having lots of fun back in the day, now it's just not the same thing with current gen stuff

TLoZ: OoT/Majora's Mask, Perfect Dark, Goldeneye, Smash Bros. 64, Mario Kart 64, Mario Party 1&2, PilotWings, StarFox64 and Conker's Bad Fur Tale were the games I enjoyed the most. And damn did I play lots and lots of Perfect Dark multiplayer and coop. Good ol' times

So I would choose the N64, due to some of the great titles it had, and above all, to the nostalgic memories it brings back.

    Sega Saturn.

Despite Sega's butchery spree, I still think it has the best line-up of games on any console. Guardian Heroes, Radiant Silvergun, the Tecno Soft shmups, the Panzer Dragoon trilogy, Capcom's arcade ports, etc. etc.

Also, the controller is Godlike.

As long as I get a runner up. :D

My Playstation 3 60GB US launch edition with GS/EE.

    Because...

Back catalogue of PS1 games. Square at the height of their powers before they became remake city. Ridge Racer, tons of great platformers, RPGs, 3D Fighters, rhythm games, 2.5D Shooters(Einhander, etc). Sucks at 2D though.

Back catalogue of PS2 games. Great shooters(Raiden III, R Type Final, Gradius V), great action games, platformers(Ratchet, Jak'n'all), great 2D games. retro and original(Metal Slug Anthology, Odin Sphere), great fighters(vF4 Evo, good conversions of the Street Fighter games, TTT/T5, Soul Calibur 2 with 3 exclusive, etc), great racers(Burnout, Ridge Racer, GT4), great RPGs(Dragon Quest 8, FF10,11,12, etc), Resident Evil 4, Ico, Devil May Cry 1/3 etc etc

And PS3. Uncharted, COD4, Oblivion, Metal Gear Solid 4, Pixel Junk Monsters, Super Stardust HD, Resistance, GTA4, and lots to look forward to. Good first 18 months.

Add to that free online and Blu Ray movies, best console evah.... Not to mention great reliability, solid build, quiet well engineered machine, and shiny!

    Runner up: Sega Saturn
Strong where PS3 is weak. 2D gaming, arcade conversions(Sega Rally yeh), Fighters Megamix, tons of great 2D Shooters, great 3D Shooters(Exhumed, Quake), nice old school platformers, awesome 2D Fighters, it's all good.

And my one plays Video CDs. Home media/games center before Playstation 2/3.

Allthough it's officially a flop, the most amazing moment in my gaming history was moving from the SNES to a 3DO, as the 3DO was crazy expensive back in the days (a richmans console impossible to get for a 16 yr old so it was like a dream to own one until I managed to get one!) the leap of graphics between the SNES en 3DO was amazing for me! I never again had that kind of leap between graphical power switching between consoles.
I enjoyed games like Super Street Fighter II Turbo, Twisted, Return Fire, Need for Speed, Road Rash, Samurai Showdown, Fifa Soccer among others and the coool professional look of the console (FZ-1 compared to most consoles in that time that looked like cheap toys) so the 3DO is my favourite console :)

I know many people are thinking WTF!? so I am lucky the TS stated not to flame people's favourite consoles LOL :)

    Runners up: NES/SNES/PSX/N64

Yeah, that's quite a jump... I jumped from an NES to an N64! It was such a dramatic leap, t hat when I got a Gamecube my dad could barley tell the difference between n64/GC compared to NES to N64

This is an easy one. The Sega Master System. For me it has everything I want in a games machine.

Befor that I had a Spectrum, which I loved but it had problems like the load times on the cassettes and the colour pallet was very low, plus it had this problem of your sprites being the same colour as whatever was behind it - great if your making a game about being a chameleon. BUT the game play was fantastic, so so many great games.

When the SMS arived one Christmas morning it blew me away, All that great gameplay (even better using a joypad instead of stick or keys) but now with pretty much instant load times and bright vivid colours like a comicbook or cartoon. And the big plastic game boxes instead of cheap little cassette cases, ok the games were over 3 times the price (or more) but back then that just ment you appreciated what you had more and played games to destruction.

The SMS has such a wide range of great games, many of which are hidden gems. There are the obvious ones.. Wonder Boy III, Alex Kidd in Miracle World and Castle of Illusion. But they really only scratch the surface. Some of my faves are.. Action Fighter, Zillion, Power Strike 1 and 2, Moonwalker, Land of Illusion, Mortal Kombat, Putt and Putter, Dr Robotniks Mean Bean Machine, Sonic 2, Micro Machines, Alex Kidd in Shinobi World.. the list could go on and on.

Then there are the extra things to mention, most notably the 3D glasses!! these things are actual amazing!! You actualy get about a foot of depth into the TV and about a foot coming back out at you.. truly amazing even now. Anyone who has never tried these I think would be genuinly impressed. I have read some YouTube and Gamestrailers.com comments were people say they never tried them but they are crap (!!??) trust me on this, these things really work. Plus they were quite well supported - Blade Eagle 3D, Maze Hunter 3D, Missle Defense 3D, Out Run 3D, Space Harrier 3D, Posiden Wars 3D, Zaxxon 3D and Line of Fire (Yes it has a 3D mode on it). Thats 8 good reasons to treat yourself to a set of 3D specs (Can be picked up for about £15 unboxed).

    I love the SMS

I agree with port...3DO is my all time favourite console! I exchanged it back then with a md2 and i was really schocked....
It has a lot of great titles and if it had some help with the known problems it could have conquered the whole world!:icon_bigg
Anyway i had great times with my 3dos and still do...so i love it!!:110:

    SNES. Hands down, the greatest.

Growing up with one was amazing. Playing all these new games and wonderful creations... It was just so awesome. Playing games with my brother like Secret Of Mana, Legend Of The Mystical Ninja, Street Fighter 2, and so so many others was just a blast. No system ever matched that same feeling as I got as the SNES did.

It also had some of my favorite games ever created.
Terranigma, Super Metroid, Super Mario World... All just a few of hundreds that I could spend countless hours playing and enjoying myself. All offered a challenge, and all of them played perfect. The music, sounds, feel, look... all amazing. I love the way Sprites look... all the pixels to create different emotions...

I loved the controller aswell. So perfectly made. Its simple enough to handle, yet complex enough for every game. Perfect amount of buttons, and a great layout thats comfy to hold.

The sound it produced aswell is just my favorite. It sounds SOOO GOOD!

And then when emulation on the PC was booming, finding new games that I never knew existed, getting to play popular imports that I had heard of, being able to save anywhere, being able to play with friends all on my PC, anygame I wanted, that was just amazing too!

Wow... Didnt think I'd be able to pump that much out.

    Dreamcast.

The reason is, it has the most games I really enjoyed playing. I liked the DC controller too and if anything broke with the system it was very easy to strip down & replace the broken part.

Well, to be honest.. the best console I ever have had, is probably the SNES , even though I have had an SMS, and an Amiga 2000 with HD before the SNES. And well both the Amiga, and the SMS were great. Then I must say the SNES is the one. Because at the time, there I felt it was better than all the pre 1200 Amigas , except in the sound department. But do you know what ? I still love the other consoles and computers. So I disagree with my own statement, since I don´t really have a favourite at all.

    Sony PSP.

Beautiful screen, awesome homebrew, incredible emulation abilities and some of the retail games are good too.

The fact that it plays PSX games also increases it's appeal massively as the PSX was one of my favourite consoles.

Second love is the Dreamcast, but my turbulent non-permanent lifestyle doesn't allow me to have one at all times.

I noticed something when I read console bias statements I try to see where the person making them is from. I noticed somebody from Europe is more likely To say a Playstation or Master System then somebody from the US.
    Just an observation.

    Anyways my answer

Ask me a few years ago and I'd have said Dreamcast.

Ask me now and it's PS2 it's more of a sega system then even sega systems. It also doubles as a Neo Geo. It's got Capcom Fighters it's RPG heaven. Basically something for every one. with a little work you can make it a Genesis or an SNES too.

Maybe 5 years from now I might be saying OH it's the 360. But for now PS2

    Honestly, none.

First it was the Genesis, then the Dreamcast, now none...

Probably the Sega Genesis for me.
It's the one system that I truly enjoyed practically every minute of during its original run. There was always something good to play and buy for the Genesis.

I got a SNES which also had a good selection of games, but I found it had too many dry spells (early to mid 1992 and most of 1993) which sucked some of the fun and anticipation out of the experience.

My first Console that id say is my favorite would be the Snes, then Id say the 360 because of all the kickass games on it, But ive got a spot in my heart for the original xbox because of homebrew and halo 2 on xbox live.
