Ill be different and say the original Xbox. It had a solid lineup of games (even if you dont like Halo and such) that stands up well even today. Though Id probably choose differently if it was just the games, as modding the Xbox is really what makes it made the system as awesome as it is. Linux, XBMC, countless homebrew apps, emulators for the pirates out there, all in all, a very awesome system.
1. Snes over sega. (classics) Super mario games had a lot of background for me. 2. N64 over playstation (gen before last) I liked the playstation, I just felt n64 had some good games. 3. PS2 over Xbox (Last Gen) Just because I had a lot of memories with ps2 and I bought an xbox just for playing halo on live, thats it. 4. PSP over DS (portables) This one is kind of a given, it outranks the ds in everyway, However I gave my PSP away as a gift because I felt bad my friend didn't have one and he wanted one pretty bad, Guess I gotta live with the DS... 5. Xbox 360 over Playstation 3. (This gen) MS clearly pulled some awesome out of its bag of goodies this time, When I had my PS3 it felt like a cut down 360 with a blue ray player, a lot of stuff just felt bland and not many features existed, seemed more like a cash cow then anything to me.
Playstation 2. The PS2 was the console that got me back into console gaming after a long break spent tinkering with computers in the post Atari 2600 period - so naturally, I have a certain familiarity with it & a bit of a soft spot for it. The availability of things like the Linux Kit & the large user base & associated gathering of knowledge opened my eyes to the fact that even a closed system like a proprietary console (one of the things that initially put me off them & pointed me towards tinkering with more multi-purpose computer hardware) could be opened up & extended in interesting ways. The huge library of available titles (especially some of the more oddball import ones) also helped. I enjoy each of the various different systems I possess, but the PS2 will probably always retain a special place in that mix.
The SNES was/is my favourite console. Mario World and Zelda alone are worth owning a SNES. The original Xbox is also a contender, not for the games, but for the emulation capabilities. I don't have to fire up my PC everytime I fancy playing MAME or setting my SNES up to play Mario Kart...
Tough one. I absolutely love the Mega Drive, it was the first console i personally owned and i have some great memories growing up with it and still use it most days. But, it doesn't have Goldeneye. If i could only ever play one game again it would be Goldeneye, so as much as i adore the Mega Drive, i'd have to say the N64 is my most played/favourite console.
super hard question.... i'd have to say the nessnessaturndreamcastdswiixboxpsxps2360. oh and the N64.
It's very easy... Blazing Star, Metal Slug 3, Garou MOTW, kof 98, Windjammers, Pulstar, Super sidekicks...... ...ashita no joe neogeo forever!!!
Master System was the one that made be a true gamer. So many great games, like Alex Kidd, Shinobi, R-Type, Phantasy Star, ... All other systems i had ever since, were better yes, but the Master System always give me a lot of good memories.
The NEC PC-FX!!!!!! no doubt (just joking off course) maybe it could be nominated for the best looking console doh.
I would have said the Victor Wondermega as it is the nicest designed machine and has some of the best games ever. However now I would say the Playstation 3 mainly as it plays everything I want it too, well the 1st generations machines did, the current batch are as about as useful as a meat based suntan oil on a hot beach full of dogs.
Sega Saturn Had almost everything one could need, this console serves all tastes. I appreciate the antique gaming classics (msx, shitloads of old capcom/irem/sega ect compilations), the uncountable mass of old & uptodate arcade ports and of course the original exclusives which we all know. For the 32bit lover there were some very good 3D games as well, plus some great adventure games and dating sims. Where shall I start? It's THE console to have. Second place would probably be inhabitated by Mega Drive for its great shooters and BGMs. The problem in choosing one favourite system is for me that there are too many consoles that I like really much. I do especially have a passion for MD, SS, DC, FC and N64, but SAT, MD & FC are maybe the ones I do play most, with SS on top.
