I just registered over there to buy one of those remote vinyls--awesome, awesome idea!

While I'm waiting for my new cable from retro console accessories....I thought I would bring this up as well. I've had three different sets of component cables for playstation that I'm trying to use for my ps2 slim and psOne consoles. I was thinking it was something with the settings--I get sound fine, and for a brief 1-2 seconds, I get a green sony playstation logo on the screen. Then nothing. Like I said--I purchased a few different brands of cables now--it seems strange that all three separate brands would have the same reaction. I know the consoles worked fine directly hooked up to the television as well--with the same cables no less. Ultimately, I can just play my ps1/ps2 titles on my ps3--but that's not the point :)

I wish I would have came over to this board sooner--I've been banging my head off the wall for a few weeks trying to figure out what the heck to do with this xrgb trouble!

Have you tried with any other television? Those issues kind of sound like sync issues between the XRGB and TV perhaps.

I haven't tried it with another television, but, that's only because I don't have another television :)

I also have an account here, so if any more people are interested in the remote overlay, feel free to PM me here as well. I might make a separate post for it in the future.

Just wanted to post and vouch for plc268--I purchased one from him and he shipped it very quickly and it looks great. If you're a Framemeister owner and you can't read Japanese, you should definitely get one of these and $9 shipped is not a bad deal at all. It's a lot more convenient than messing around with the menus.

You definitely should put up a sale thread! These things are great! Plus people like me (i.e. who leave feedback for the wrong person, then try to leave feedback for the right person but mixes up seller and buyer drop down) know how to use the feedback system here a lot better too! :friendly_wink:
It was all that blue everywhere! I swear on my life officer! :victorious:

icecream208 did your cable ever come in? Were you able to get the framemeister working?

So, as an update to my Framemeister woes, I finally was able to sit down with my AC adapter and a multimeter.

I tested it out, and everything seemed in order. I then plugged it back into the Framemeister just for fun... and it worked! I have no idea why it wasn't working in the first place, but it's definitely working now and OH MY GOD it's beautiful.

I love this thing so much.

I bought this as a device to use in the future when my retro game workhorse CRT finally dies, but damn, if I don't want to kick that CRT out to pasture now and replace it with a shiny HD TV. That, or hook up a ridiculous number of consoles to my primary TV.

I think I was nearly brought to tears, really made me feel like a kid again. Thanks Yakumo! You're providing a great service.

Glad to hear that you got it working! IMO there is no going back to CRT tvs, except for Lightgun games!

That's fantastic news! I'm so glad you got it to work. So odd that it wasn't working first time round.

Your post is just how I felt. There are many people very skeptical about the Framemeister but pots like yours sincerely show just how impressive retro games can now look on a nice HD screen when using RGB. Even using S video is a big step up!

Thanks! Doh, I didn't think about Lightgun games still needing a CRT. Hmmm...

Just got my XRGB-Mini and the vinyl overlay on Friday.
Rewired the SCART adapter to euro spec (kinda pointless to leave it as JP when barely any cables are available in the global market)
Loving the thing with everything I've tried- Thanks Yakumo!

Has anyone gotten it working with Dreamcast?
I'd bought a pelican SCART adapter a few months back in preparation for rewiring everything to SCART, but just as I couldn't get video out of it then via a basic BNC adapter, I can't get anything out of it now- I get audio, but video's totally blank.
Dissecting the cable shows that it apparently is different the basic diagram found on most sites, but a few caps on the rgb lines I wouldnt think would cause huge issues... any one?

I use my Dreamcast on the Framemeister but via SVideo at the moment. It looked awful BUT if I adjust the sharpness to level 6 it actually looks quite nice. I'm waiting on a nice VGA converter solution though. I have the official VGA box for DC so just need the VGA to RGB converter.

Why would you want to convert VGA to 15khz RGB? It's the same signal, just interlaced instead of progressive. Plus, the DC works fine with a SCART cable. The only game I was ever unable to get working was Geist Force. All the retail games I've tried work fine.

I don't have a DC scart cable but I've been offered some sort of solution that takes the DC VGA signal in to another box to use it via the Framemeister. I can't remember the details off the top of my head. It may not even use RGB but HDMI.

That Pelican cable works great for me. Does your rewired adapter work with any other cables? Those are 220uf caps on the RGB lines.

It's actually connected with bacon. But you should see a box shortly I would think!

As I stated earlier in this thread, the XRGB-mini will take 31KHz RGB (VGA RGB) if you combine the horizontal-sync and vertical-sync into a composite sync signal and feed that to the Framemeister. The Dreamcast does have a composite-sync output but it is inactive when VGA mode is turned on so you must make that signal yourself using the h-sync and v-sync signals. I did that and posted pics in this thread, but the schematic to do so is below.

Alternatively, you can use an Extron interface that will take the VGA signal and output it as RGBS out through BNC connectors and then use a BNC->SCART cable to connect it to the Dreamcast.

Or you can use one of those VGA->HDMI adapters and feed it to the Framemeister's HDMI ports, but usually those boxes are low quality and I wouldn't recommend them.

Ah yes, that's what I7ll be using. I remember BNC being mentioned in the PMs. man, I have so much on these days I'm loosing track of stuff I've read.

Hm, I'm going to have to doublecheck the connections in the cable- it also doesn't output on a composite monitor with scart input, so maybe the cable's faulty.

my modified adapter works fine with everything else i've tried- saturn, psx, ps2, wii...
Haven't had a chance to try the megadrive2 or sfc yet.

Which extron adapter is this you speak of?
Interesting notes about the vga sync situation, but I've been so impressed with 15k via the xrgb that I was hoping to use scart instead of vga, and it'd remove the issues with the dreamcast vga incompatible games.
Just a bit baffled, but perhaps I just have a shoddy adapter- at worst, I could roll my own once I order a few spare male plugs.
