What do the 'A' and 'B' buttons do?

If you've got a multimeter you can try poking at it to see if there's any voltage hanging about.
Short of that I used a third party (well, Buffalo branded) power brick so I wouldn't need a step down transformer.
I had picked up a cheap one off eBay rated at just under what the XRGB-mini requires. Took it apart and found it was terribly constructed.
The Buffalo one is rated at 3A so it has plenty of spare juice and feels solid! :topsy_turvy:

Oh boy, I am looking forward to getting that sassy looking overlay! :friendly_wink:

Yeah, the Framemeister defiantly worked. I check every unit I sell just to be sure and as you say it was well packed so there shouldn't be any damage from shipping.

So, from what you've said there's no power going in to the system at all? To switch it on you need to hold down the power button for a few seconds in not using the remote. Even then it should still show the power light. It should continually glow from nothing to red and back again.

I'll take a look to see if it's possible to buy another PSU for your system but first see if you can borrow one from someone nearby just to be sure it is the PSU.

Oh nice, thanks for the offer, I might have to take you up on that. I'm out of town this upcoming weekend, but perhaps the weekend after?

I do have a multimeter around here, hadn't thought of that.

Yeah, no power at all. I just tried holding down the power button for and extended time and still nothing. Tried multiple outlets too. I'll let you know once I get to try another PSU.

I don't believe they do anything at this time.

that's right. Don't think I've ever used them. My be the A add B buttons will be used in a future upgrade? Actually, come to think of it, can't you make your own presets? If you can the the ABC buttons would be preset buttons. I really need to check that out first.

I'm pretty sure you can't make your own presets. If you could that would be awesome though. The 480p Dreamcast and 480p Wii need an adjustment from vertical scaling 6 to 8 on mine to look best and I'd love a preset for those two.

I bought one of these from Solaris about two months ago...I still haven't been able to get it to work correctly with any retro system (works fine with gamecube, wii etc), and I'm thinking it's the cables. I've had a heck of a time buying NTSC cables for Genesis, SMS, SNES & N64 (bought a RGB modded system for this purpose as well). I probably have 2-3 of each from different places, just simply not working. SNES will give some visual output for 3-5 seconds, then go back out. Sound works nice. Genesis & Master system both have neither sound nor visuals--same with 64, actually.

Anyone have any suggestions? I ordered one of those great Dreamcast Hirro pieces about a month ago--looking forward to getting everything all hooked up and done! :)

You are using a SCART adapter instead of the included JP21 adapter correct?

Don't r forget that if you have a cheap TV then it may have issues syncing with the Framemeister. My Toshiba and Sharp TVs work just fine but my Acer Monitor is little slow to sync to the Framemeister. If you are using a no brand Chinese TV that may be the reason why your consoles aren't working. Or you may be just using the wrong cables? Or have the Framemeister sync settings wrong.

I have been using the scart adapter :)

I've been testing the system individually, hooking them directly from the adapter to the console.

I have a SHARP brand television--it's of decent quality.

I purchased one of these: http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk/european-scart-to-framemeister-xrgb-mini-converter-for-sale.html

I have the regular one--but I just purchased a second with a built-in SCART stripper circuit, just in case that's the issue.

    I have these cables...

(I couldn't find the cable I bought for Genesis/SMS in my eBay purchases, but I bought this one today:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/200887152873?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649)

Here is the RGB modded N64 that I purchased on a friends recommendation: http://www.ebay.com/itm/261180533344?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649=
    I'm using a model 2 Genesis and a Model 1 SNES.

I have my menus changed to English, but nothing else modified from there. I've played around with it a bit, but haven't had any luck yet. I'm assuming it's the cables, but it definitely could be anything at this point :friendly_wink:

Thanks for the quick replies, sorry for hijacking the thread! Hopefully other people who snag an xrgb mini can use this as reference!

I can't say anything about the cables because I've not used them but it does seem to be a cable issue. Maybe the switch box is taking too much video signal? If you want real Japanese RGB cables I can get you some from Yahoo Auctions but they are expensive. My Saturn, SFC and Mega Drive RGB cables all cost between 3000 and 5000 yen each.

Wow, 3000 to 5000 yen a piece? That makes me feel great about spending $15-20 USD a piece for SFC / MegaDrive / PS1 / SCART -> XRGB Mini cables. The seller actually sent me a Saturn SCART cable instead of the SNES one at first, so I ended up getting a bonus cable for free.

Just to clarify, the Euro adapter you have has horrible sync issues. It won't pick anything up at all with my Saturn cable from Retro Console Accessories. I am not happy with my purchase from them and wasted over $100.00 on three cables.

Wow--I am so glad I posted this here--I honestly have at least two of every cable now, not even thinking to look at a different adapter. Just purchased--I'll keep you all updated :)

Personally I have the SCART adapter (with LM1881 built-in) from Retro Gaming Cables UK and I haven't had a problem with any of my consoles (RGB-modded NES, SNES 1CHIP and GPM models, RGB-modded NTSC N64, model 1 Saturn, model 1 Genesis, etc.).

I know what the buttons do now! :topsy_turvy:
Thanks to plc268 at shmups.system11.org! Thread here. Now I can Framemeister in English!
And a big thanks to Yakumo again for this one!

I had issues with the http://www.retrogamingcables.co.uk adapter from XRGB -> EuroSCART but the one I picked up from retro_console_accessories was perfect!
I picked up a few cables from both and the cables seem to be fine, just the adapter was poorly soldered together on mine.
I haven't had a chance to poke around inside the retro_console_accessories adapter, but don't really need to...
Although maybe I will to fix up the retrogamingcables adapter! :topsy_turvy:
