I would have agreed with your statement till you mentioned HDMI, if the TV has HDMI then it surely will have VGA or DVI and HDMI in itself can accept a VGA signal with a simple VGA to HDMI adaptor, which are cheap

HDMI doesn't support analog RGB signals. These adapters probably has some not-so-cheap chips inside ;).
What Fabrizo told you is absolutely correct, his point is that upscaling will be done either by TV or by your not-so-cheap adapter, good luck with that.

    Assuming you're outputting at 720p...

On any mode (besides the Meister mode), you can press the C button (bottom left of the arrow buttons), and it'll pop up a prompt for V_Line. That's your scanlines.

Scanlines are broken on 1080p output. They only look right if you're outputting 720p.

Question: I don't think these units can do it, but do any XRGB units allow you to hook up directly to your computer monitor by VGA cable or DVI Cable?

I use the Framemeister over DVI on a 4:3 1600x1200 Dell monitor and it works perfectly. The FM Menu has an option to display through DVI, it's easy to find.

The only issue is with audio, since the audio signal is carried through HDMI and my monitor doesn't have any audio out/speakers (although I'm not sure DVI carries audio) I use external speakers.

However while for Composite/SVideo and Component/D-Terminal you can just plug the RCA audio cables straight to your speakers/amp/splitter, for RGB/Scart you either need a cable with additional RCAs pit or use a scart adapter that has a break out box with RCA outs. I use the latter.

Happy to help with further queries, I can show you my set up as well.

It's as you might have suspected, DVI doesn't carry audio, only HDMI does.

I have a question regarding the rgb-scart adaptor, is it suitable for EU scart cables?

No, it is not. You have to either rewire supplied one, or buy new from retrogamingcables.co.uk

So those running this, definitely worth the money if we're looking to connect our systems to LCD/Plasma TV?

Yes. It's deffinatly worth the money without a doubt. I mean, I can't even look at my consoles running on a HD screen any more without the use of the Framemeister. It really is that good. There's no lag (well, there is but it's so tinny that human players can't notice it. Even the hardest hardcore Virtua Fighter players can't), crystal clear image plus you have the option of using scan lines! I mean, this picture below says it all. It looks nothing like a Mega Drive on a HD TV but it is. The Framemeister will make anything with RGB or Component look amazing. Everyone who bought one from me will agree I'm 100% sure.

I'm doing them with EMS shipping (includes tracking and insurance) for 39800 yen or for 37300 yen sent by small packet airmail. (no insurance or tracking with that service).

I can't decide whether I want one of these or a bigger RGB monitor. I love my Sony PVM but it's 19 inches and I'd really love to be able to play from the couch. The inablity to play light gun games on an HDTV is the biggest thing holding me back. Knowing me, I'll eventually end up going both routes, so I'll definitely consider grabbing a Framemeister from you when the time comes, Yakumo!

I was the same at one point when it came to light gun games but considering the only ones I really liked were all made by Sega, I can now play them via emulation and use a mouse which actually works quite well. I play the Moel 2 version of House of the Dead like this all the time :) But yeah, honestly, you will not be disappointed and just to persuade you a little more here's a few pics I've just taken.

I second that, the FM is just a great device, TF VI (and V also) does look amazing, you won't be disappointed. Plus, impeccable Yakumo service, it's a no-brainer.

Well, I'm sold. When I get the funds together you'll have a PM Yakumo - will take a while though, still finishing a degree over here! haha
