Hi everyone, I'm one of the volunteers over on shmups.system11 who has been maintaining the XRGB Wiki, if you check in there a lot of your questions will be answered. http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php/XRGB-mini_FRAMEMEISTER

I've used the XRGB3 and Mini extensively with both PAL and NTSC material so if I can be any help just let me know :)

I was wondering. Does is preserve the aspect ratio (with black borders on the side) of does it stretch to 16:9?

Aspect ratio is user selectable, stretch it (if you must) or preserve it entirely up to you.

I remember I saw the solution somewhere but I can't remember where... I am getting a couple of lines mid-screen with the saturn and n64 , there was some setting to fix this but what setting?

also anyone knows if the firmware is still actively developed? sync issues and lack of user profiles IMHO are a big drawback to the unit...

The last firmware was 1.10 which went public in November last year so I guess they are still working on it.

Do you mean a couple of extra scanlines? Try changing the V_WIDTH setting up or down a couple of notches.

There shouldn't be a lot of sync issues left now, believe me the Framemiester is way more stable than most other processors. I doubt we will ever see user profiles I would be surprised if the unit is capable of that.

ah thanks, IIRC it was V_WIDTH , will check it and come back with a photo if there are still issues...

Sync issues do exist, you can't leave SYNC to one level and call it a day, it needs changing depending on the console connected, at least my consoles always need tinkering with SYNC... profiles shouldn't be that hard to implement , it's just a firmware function , there are already settings saved for each input - the function just needs expanding... ofcourse it's just IMHO on this.

Strangely I've never needed to adjust sync level once. I connect Megadrive, Saturn, Jaguar, SNES, Supergrafx, N64, Spectrum and C64. I do use a sync cleaner but I would only advise the type that piggy back the power connector on the Mini, the other type typically cause more problems than they solve because not all SCART cables provide enough voltage for them.

^ hm, I don't use a sync cleaner since most of my consoles are modded to output c-sync ... maybe that's the key, some sort of uniform level on signal not depending on the console used

Most of my consoles are c-sync too since the XRGB3 really needed that, the mini doesn't seem to mind as much though at least not in my experience. Only machine I had issues with was my N64 which didn't work initially on the older firmware until I got the sync cleaner.

An update to the NESRGB matter: I solved all problems by using V (nesrgb's composite signal) as Sync.
CS# (nesrgb's c-sync signal) never worked for me 100% , using composite on the other hand fixed the issues (no sync stripper).

Hope this info can be of some help to others facing similar problems :)

    Thanks for the update, keropi!

I'm not experienced with the different sync terms... so you used sync over composite video instead of composite sync?

NESRGB offers a variety of signals... RGB, Composite and S-VHS.
In RGB mode you have the option to use either Composite or C-SYNC for sync.
In my case although C-SYNC is a more "clean/pure" signal it did not work well. Once I used Composite for sync all my troubles went away...

Okay, pretty strange, but good to know! :)
I think everyone would go for composite sync at first.

Does anyone know if the "Black Level" and "Sharpness" settings affect processing lag? or they don't matter?
Is there a site/wiki/thread explaining all menu options?

No, neither option will affect or add any lag. I'm not away of any English language wiki or guide for the menu options either although one would be ideal for all the users out there.

As far as I and other testers have been able to determine, using Leo's lag tester, NONE of the menu options affect lag, this includes the different deinterlacing modes.

The XRGB Mini Wiki is here - http://junkerhq.net/xrgb/index.php/XRGB-mini_FRAMEMEISTER feel free to contribute!

I have a question hopefully someone can help. I am interested in the Framemeister, and my TV is 1080p. From what I understand the Framemeister has to be set to output 720p when used with scanlines, meaning that my TV would then scale the image from 720p to 1080p. Won't that ruin the picture again? Thanks!
